The Best of the West Shooting Range

Post by Kahrry »

My wife took her CHL shooting test here and said I would really like it. The pistol bays look like the ticket. There aren't a lot of place you can practice from a holster and other non-bench drills.

I shot there in September 2010 as part of a group practice.

Great facility. I wish it wasn't two hours away from my home in San Antonio.

I went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago and really liked it... planning on going again this week if all goes well.

Does anyone know if they allow tactical rifles and shotguns in the bays? I would think they do since one of the bays is 100 yards, but I'm not sure.

I saw the facility last year during LaRue's range day, but I'm wondering how they work things during public hours . . . do you just pick a bay, set up targets, and start shooting? Do they have any range officers around, or is there any particular way the covered ranges (up to 1000 yards!) are run?

Enquiring minds want to know . . . ;-)

Just FYI, I emailed them a couple of days ago and the reply was that anything over .223 was prohibited in the tactical bays. Shotguns are allowed, even using slugs.

Looks like it's time for an M4gery :biggrinjester:
