long time lurker new member intro

Post by packa45 »

I've been reading this forum on a semi-regular basis for over a year and been carrying for about 6 months. And I would like to say thank you all for the immense amount of information on this site.

currently I switch between my2 40cal glocks and my pride and joy 1911. I carry at the 430 position in a crossbreed supertuck and absolutely love the fit and feel of it.

Funny story to start my carry experience...

The day my plastic arrived my inlaws were in town for a visit and my mother in law is 100% antigun however my father in law is always interested in the latest pieces of my collection. So I was showing him my subcompact glock and several other handguns that day because he is interested in getting his chl and has only long guns and shotguns. Well my plastic arrives around lunch and after eating they wanted to go shopping so I toss my glock into my supertuck and out the door we go.

Went and did my Wally walk as you guys call it. Hit the home depot and half a dozen places
Even went to dinner and my mother in law never noticed that I was armed until I got home and untucked my shirt...she flipped out and almost had a panic attack.stared saying all the typical things antis say "you are gonna hurt yourself" etc. She knows my background (armed security officer/ personal protection) and that I have been shooting firearms bb guns and archery since I was 8 or 9( 30 now) my father was an avid hunter and in general gun enthusiast while I was growing up and we are both life members of the NRA. She calmed down a bit after I explained that I have no intention of hurting anyone I am only concerned with the protection of myself my family and avoid confrontation whenever possible.

So again Thank you for all the information at my fingertips and keep up the good work

Here's a post I never thought I'd make:

I'm proud of my mother in law. She has her CHL and carries a revolver in her purse.
[Insert pithy witicism here]

Proudly carrying since 09/10.

I dont think mine would ever consider filing out an application for a chl...but hey I was able to convert my wife to a gun toting Texan...even if it is only once in a year that she will carry. Me on the other hand I try to carry daily...except its exposed 60% of the time...drawbacks of being in uniform as a security officer.

Thanks for the warm welcome and happy packing
