2nd week in Texas & 1st day in the forum
Hello,
I just moved to East Texas from the peoples republic of kalifornia. I spent my adult life in some type of protective service and the last 8 years as an executive security provider for a high profile business man and his family. My employer was a valid and varified soft target for both domestic as well as international terrorist attack. He is also a billionaire which added to the daily threat of robbery and kidnap. We were located in one of the higher crime areas of the state. I frequently drove vehicles worth more than most 3 bedroom homes and transported expensive items and large sums of cash. I was denied a CCW (CHL) because I did not have "good cause". As a police officer in the USAF, I spent a number of years in Texas and my oldest son was lucky enough to be born here. I have finally moved my family away from kalifornia and a little closer to freedom. I look forward to raising my children in a state that, for the most part, still "gets it". I also look forward to getting to know those of you who will accept another kalifornia transplant.
God Bless Texas and God bless America.

"Wealth" of knowledge is an understatement here. If knowledge was money this place would be like the Vatican Bank.carlson1 wrote:Welcome back to Texas and the Forum. There is a wealth of information that I am sure you will glean from.

Welcome back to Texas. Where a valid reason to get a CHL is "because I can"

Welcome to Texas and this forum. I occasionally travel to California and I feel absolutely naked without my trusty Kimber 45 on my belt. I have even considered (briefly) moving out there due to the sweet weather in Northern California ... but too many rules including their stance on CHL.
Anyway ... welcome!
Anyway ... welcome!

Welcome to Texas and this board. I escaped Kalifornia many years ago. How did you protect your rich boss without a permit? Carry anyway? We want to know.

As a recent transplant from the PRK myself, I welcome you to Texas. California is geographically amazing but politically insane. Enjoy your new home.

We welcome anyone who comes here legally, as long as they shower and delouse to remove all traces of the infectious ideas from which they are escaping.closer2free wrote:I also look forward to getting to know those of you who will accept another kalifornia transplant.
Since you've been here two weeks, I assume you've already applied for your CHL, taken the class, and bought a few guns.

Re: 2nd week in Texas & 1st day in the forum
I moved here from Pasadena in 2006. I was just back there for 2 weeks, taking care of family business, and got home just last Thursday, the 2nd. Welcome to Texas from another transplant. I wasn't born here, but I got here as fast as I could. We love it here, and our recent trip was enough to convince my wife that we'll never move back there. I had already arrived at that decision myself back in 2006. You'll enjoy it here.closer2free wrote:Hello,
