Hey guys,
New member looking for some fun pistol / carbine matches on the FW side of DFW. I've fired a few times at DPC in their Personal Protection & Real World Gun matches and loved it (now I'm hooked!), but looking for something a little closer to the new house (near 35W & Alliance airport). I'm not too picky on the type of match (IDPA, IPSC, IDSA, etc etc)... just looking for something thats both fun and practical for carry. I prefer to shoot outside, but if a match is good enough, I'll shoot indoors as well. So recommendations? Also, I've never fired a 2 gun match, but would love to... so if you know of any in the local area, let me know! Thanks in advance,
J

CrossTimbers IDPA meets on Thursdays at Winchester Gallery in Ft Worth.
TAW (Tuesday After Work) on Tuesdays at Dallas Pistol Club.
I am sure there are others. Those are just the ones that I can think of right now.

How hard is IDPA? what size are the targets and how fast do you have to get through them to be considered competitive?

IDPA uses a fairly large target the highest scoring zone is 8" round circle.

Re: Competitions in/near Fort Worth
I have a shooters club that meets every other week at Shoot Smart...our events are two hours, first hour is the tournament and second hour is horsing around, gun talk, socializing, free shooting on the range. It's a very laid back atmosphere, just friendly competition and gun talk. I can't post the website address because I'm a junior member, but feel free to PM me and I'll get you the info.
