Thinking about a trade....

Just tossing this around for now to see if there is any interest....

I have a stainless S&W Model 60 357 2 inch that I am thinking about trading for a Glock 23, 3rd generation. No box or papers on the S&W, but it is clean and shoots like a dream.

I know I would have to pay a cash difference, but that's why I am posting.... trying to see what the figures might be.

A gun shop in Lubbock has offered me a trade, but I thought I'd try dealing with individuals first.

Hey dave, I just sold my 23 the other day and I would of loved to have a Mod.60 .

I hope you get one and they are some great guns .

Yep, I just saw your ad....wished I would have looked a week earlier !

The Glock 23 I'm looking for is a 'replacement' for me, I had one that I now wish I would have never traded off a while back. I had a wild urge to get a S&W model 686 and the Glock was not being used at the time.... still kicking myself in the rear over that decision.

Normal everyday carry is a Kimber Tactical Ultra II, BUG's are either a S&W airweight 38 or a Kel Tec P3AT. Not much need for the Model 60 these days and it is much too nice to be a 'safe queen'. I actually bought it for my son, but before I could give it to him he decided on a model 640 without the exposed hammer. So.... I kept the Model 60 and bought him a 640 for his last birthday.

Found a brand new Glock 32, 357 cal., making the trade and picking it up on Tuesday.

By trading the Model 60 for a 32, I can still use my stockpile of 357 ammo !

Will probably pick up a 40 cal. barrell for the 32 later..... best of both worlds.

umm, your .357 magnum ammo will not fire in the .357 glock, which uses a .357 Sig round. The .357 Sig is a .40 case necked down to a 9mm bullet.

Thank you for reminder TXI.....pretty common for people to assume the ammunition from one will work with the other. I wish they would have named it something different....at least they got SIG added to the end

Gotta love the Sigs. Both are wonderful choices IMO!

Having SIG or S&W postscripts on the ammunition is almost a guarantee, that it will be expensive hard to find, and a lack of good premium defense ammo.

.357 sig is plentiful around here, as is ample choices in defense ammo.

Gee, there seems to be no shortage of ammo choices in ".357 S&W Magnum" (the proper name).

Same with ".40 S&W".

And while ".357 SIG" isn't cheap, it isn't hard to find, and I don't know of any that wouldn't be described as "premium self defense ammo".

I guess I'm just letting my ammo ignorance and bigotry show, I see the ammo world as either 9mm or 45acp, and not much benefit to anything else. Ammo is just so expensive, I don't understand the reasoning behind, what seems to be, exotic ammo.

Although lately there are a couple of .40 guns out there that have caught my attention. They have a new .45 GAP coming out now and don't understand the need for that one either.

Well, finally made the deal today. Decided to stay with a Glock 23 so that 40 cal. ammo would be cheaper for lots of range time.

Picked up two identical Glock 23's with factory installed night sights. One was for my son and one for myself..... he was a bit surprised, LOL !

Sure is !

I have a doctor appointment in Abilene on Monday and my son is still out on semester break so we will take both the new 23's to the indoor gun range.

After doing exhaustive job investigating for when he finishes college after this semester, he has decided to apply for the Abilene PD training Academy. Timing is right, he finishes college at the end of May and the next Academy is set to begin in July. They issue Glocks now, so I thought it might be wise to get my son a Glock and let him get acquainted with not only how it shoots, but takedown, cleaning, etc.

He was thinking about DPS earlier and I was looking for a Sig for the same reason, but he decided on APD to stay a little closer to this area. Of course, that makes Mom and Pop happy !
