Should Guns Be Pink?

If it means the wife will carry it, it can be whatever color it needs to be.

Just like caliber and capacity...I'd prefer she have a .40 or .45 with a double-stack magazine to be more deadly, but she would never carry the XDm in her purse. Now she has a Ruger LC9....horrible trigger and low capacity with a weak round, but she carries it everywhere. Better the weak, low capacity gun she has than the other one left in the car or at home :)

Even though they are locked up with the kids and grand kids around it's a last chance safety thing.
Edit: She told me guns arnt toys let's not make them look like one.

I've got an OD Green Glock and I like the color, but it has to do with marketing. I talk to my daughters and they have seen the pink Taurus models and that is what they are interested in. So, I then have to give the required firearm speech and rules to them and they start to understand!

As far as the children go, there's no excuse for a child gaining access to a firearm in the first place so it should not be an issue.

For the BG, they're already taking their life into their own hands so if they want to take a gamble on the gun not being real, that's their bad.

(see my avatar ) The only pink firearm I have isn't completely pink.... but my DPMS AR just begged for replacement pink buttstock, handguard and pistol grip on an otherwise all black rifle. My CSM thinks it's hilarious.

I generally agree with you, but sometimes I wonder about Murphy's law of unintended consequences.

It is slow on the forum today, so I will post this topic to see if anyone cares to comment. Pink is not a color that someone normally associates with danger. Since childhood we are taught that pink is the color for girls, and girls are not dangerous to guys except for charming or breaking their hearts.

Is it possible that criminals or perhaps children might mistake a pink gun for a toy? Pink is not supposed to be threatening; Red is the color of danger, not pink. Yet in the pursuit of the all-American, almighty dollar, has no consideration gone into the possibilities of a gun not being seen as a threat because it is pink, or did someone's accountant assure manufacturers that the increased sales to women would more than offset any "problems?"

Food for thought if anyone cares to comment. I'm actually curious since I had never heard of pink guns until I found this forum.

The color of the gun is not an issue, The gun itself is really not a threat either unless someone throws one at your head. The real threat is the bullet that comes out of the gun when you press the trigger and it will be deadly no matter what color it is. Some women and some men also, like pink and if a pink gun will want them want to carry, then I'm all for it . Any BG that thinks that what comes out of a pink gun is harmless... well let's say he won't live very long.

My wife has a pink iphone, pink camera, pink laptop, etc. I will give you one guess what color her grips on her .38 revolver are. If having pink grips gets my wife to take more personal ownership and pride in her firearm, good with me. I am getting my daughter a 22 bolt action rifle for her birthday, and if it was any color other than pink, she would want to return it.

I'd be more concerned about the size of some of the recent pocket pistols making them look like toys than the color. Then again, if I have to draw it, it ain't gonna be for looks.

I knew I wanted an LCP, so right now I carry a governor's special, love it.
I would love a pink (raspberry) one, I've also seen the green one, it's not a bad color, wish they had a light pink one.

...great point...it might lessen the deterrent factor, but the muzzle blast would be the same, no matter the color...

I wonder if a BG might think a person isn't serious about shooting because of the preference for pink. I suspect it would be a "my bad" moment for him.
