I just did my stuff online and have to get my fingerprints done tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll be able to get into that class, unless there's something sooner that I can get into. Just depends on when i get my paperwork processed.

Viper, when did you submit your papers? I'm trying to figure out about how long it takes them to schedule somebody.

I submitted sometime in mid march and recieved my email from DPS yesterday offering me either this or the next course. I'm signed up for the August 1-4 class.

I'm betting that by the time that you hear of a class date that the class is already practically full. Since there are currently about 2 classes per month every other month (that is 2 in June, 2 in Aug, 2 in Oct...) that would indicate that at about 150 students (they take 80 per class) have signed up every other month. So when you hear about a class date, you are likely to end up in the class in the second month after the one you heard of.

Man, that was a confusing sentence wasn't it ;-). So if you hear about June and you send in paperwork, you are likely to get August. If you hear about August and send in paperwork, probably October, etc...

Just got to my hotel room. Class starts bright and early tomorrow. Guess I will get up early to go scout the area and get my bearings straight. I will let everyone know how it is going day by day. Any thoughts or tips?

I thought so to. Learned a lot. Still have a lot of questions but I am trying not to get to anxious, I know there are still a lot they are going to cover. Are you there for a new instructor or a renewal?

Renewals don't take classes anymore. And were only 1-day classes when they did.

There are plenty of people here for renewals and they are here Monday through Wednesday 8-5 and shoot on Thursday. The new instructors are here 8 to about 8 at night depending on the breaks we take and shoot on Thursday.

Well I'm quite confused then. I renew online. Took the test online. And am waiting for DPS to figure out how they are going to handle the shooting qualifications. Along with many other instructors.

Sure your not talking about people with previous training experience? I believe the renewal classes were only one day plus quails. That sounds like the shortened class for new instructors with training experience.
