Question on a Citation.
Back when I just turned 21(I am 36 now), me and buddy went to the store to buy some beer and meet to grill. We picked two of his cousins who were teller than me and figured they were older than 21. Once we purchased the beer and got into the car, one of then poped opena can of beer and a police officer saw him. We were pulled over and taken into the PD, and waited for someone to bail us out. I went to the clerks office to get the City criminal records and she gave me a certified letter saying I have no records. I asked her about that incident and it was considered a citation and not a conviction and had no mention of an arrest. I never saw a judge. Would I put this down as an arrest and citation or do I omit it. I am thinking to put it down the outcome a citation?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Did you pay a fine? What class ? In anycase, if you are not arrested, not fingerprinted, etc... usually you do not report it. Someone will have a better idea what is going on in your case.

I paid a fine and it was a class c misdemeanor. I don't remember getting fingerprinted and I didn't see a judge.

You should be OK. No need to report anything.Cool Arrow wrote:I paid a fine and it was a class c misdemeanor. I don't remember getting fingerprinted and I didn't see a judge.

Re: Question on a Citation.
Thats what they told me in the PD. I just figured since I was handcuffed and taken to the cell for a few hours It was considered arrested. I got a little confused I guess. I have the dates of when it happened back in 96, so in the case it turns out I need to put it then I got the info ready. Man how dumb things one does as a young un come back to haunt you.

If you were not photographed and fingerprinted, then you were not "arrested" for CHL application purposes. Do not report it. You are good to go.

Re: Question on a Citation.
IMHO, leave it out. Bet CHL will be approved; citation, not technically an arrest (not booked, i. e. fingerprinted, etc. & "NOT on your record".
Keep us posted of the outcome.

If I were to put it, would it be a disqualifier? I don't think it would and its been 15 yrs ago.

If I were you, I'd follow Crossfire's advice -- she generally knows of which she speaks!Cool Arrow wrote:If I were to put it, would it be a disqualifier? I don't think it would and its been 15 yrs ago.

You were probably arrested with the intent of charging you with a class A misdemeanor for providing alcohol to a minor - somewhere in that time period between cuff an stuff and slamming doors, cooler heads prevailed and you were issued simple citation. You should go back and give thanks to whoever made that decision.

Re: Question on a Citation.
I just spoke to my old college room mate who was with me on our beer run and he didn't recall getting fingerprinted or photographed. SO I guess this doesn't go on the application. Thanks everyone for your advise.
