Uneventful 9/1 at my day job

Post by rp_photo »

I get the feeling that my company was probably not aware of the 9/1 parking lot law, and the same may be the case for many companies.

I also suspect that the routine of many didn't change much, but the amount of worry went down beginning today.

The majority of "New laws" news articles made no mention of it.

Probably a non-event for 95% of the population.

As I see it, a non-event which brings reduced worry is a good thing.

Personally, if anyone did make a big deal about it, I'd see it as ousting themselves as a carrier - making themselves a target for burglary or whatnot, something I would not want to do myself. I wouldn't expect it to make any difference on peoples daily life other than the thought of knowing it's there.

I saw it on the news quite a bit as well. Even my sister called with questions about it this morning when she saw it on tv, then proceeded to blow up with excitment about noodling being legal in TX now, which I had no idea about. Not sure why she's excited, after I told her about my experience noodling the red river, she seemed a little concerned about my mental health

It didnt change a thing for me really. Only thing was now the company could not say a word about it, my boss has known for years I keep mine in the car, half the people at the company do.

Like the OP said, it was probably a non-event for most of the populace. The only ones who probably sat up and took notice were those companies who can no longer forbid it, and those people who can legally leave it in their car at work now. Yeah, a non-event that reduces worry is a wonderful thing.

I'm still waiting for the new acknowledge policy email from HR. I will smile the whole time I read and say yes I agree to it. Not that it will stop me of they don't.

Also, as of 9/1/11, no more "night" or "truck" speed limits in Texas. Speed limits at night and for trucks are the same as for daytime autos.

I was pulled over last year with a warning about the night time speed limit at 3:00AM outside of Gonzales. Myself and evidently the DPS trooper were the only people dumb enough to be out that late. Slightly worrisome event as I had been out with my Ghost Hunting team and the truck was loaded down with cameras and electronics. I was worried he might think I had knocked out a pawn shop

I'm against the heloicopter hunting of Feral Pigs only because it is usually a waste of the meat. I hunt pigs several times a year so doing my part. Tastier than venison. I'm not interested in killing for the sake of killing. Realize these things are a huge problem down here but I really really like bacon.

No kidding. And any ballistics that involves "straight down" makes bullet drop calculations a piece of cake :biggrinjester:

30,000 feet isn't the problem; 500mph is!! (Along with the near lack of oxygen  )
