Walther P99c/AS & P99/AS (9mm) Getcha' one!

If you are in the market for an excellent pistol I recommend you check out the Walther P99c/AS, or it's larger sibling P99/AS.

The above picture shows the results of the first magazine (9mm/10+1) run thru my P99c/AS. I only practice from self defense range (5-7') and this was shot freestanding two-hands from 5'.. I was just trying to see what adjustments might be necessary but was pleasantly surprised when all rounds impacted pretty much poa/poi. The first round was DA and a bit higher than the rest.

I'm a senior citizen with declining vision, and shaky hands, and I'm sure a better shooter would have done much better. But hey, all rounds pretty close to center mass, no malfunctions.. Gotta love that.

Amazing accuracy out of the box, and a list of nice features that IMO make them the best overall firearm package I've ever owned.

There are three trigger/striker options, DAO, Glocklike, and AS.. It seems the AS (traditional DA/SA) is by far the most popular.

I am so pleased with my compact P99c/AS that it's big brother followed me home recently.. Just a bit larger, but with a 15+1 capacity.. First mag. shot thru it was just like the results of the first mag. thru the compact. Just 5 more holes.

I don't know why you don't hear much about Walthers, but in the past I've owned a PP in 32cal, and in a moment of stupidity I sold it. I now own a very nice surplus P1, and a very nice surplus P5. All of my personal experience with Walthers leads me to believe they are exceptional firearms, quality built, 100% reliable, and unusually accurate.

Check 'em out.

Best Wishes,

J. Pomeroy

It seems that the P99 doesn't get much press in the U.S. I picked up one 3 years ago when I first got my CHL and it feels great in the hand. In my experience, it is very reliable, accurate and has great ergonomics. My only complaint is that I really don't like the AS trigger. I'd much rather have the Glock trigger, but have heard negative things about the QA trigger (too stiff).

Here's a picture of mine.

Nice guns indeed! After months of renting and trying out different handguns and calibers, my wife settled on a Walther P99-QA in 9mm and loves it. She doesn't mind the stiff trigger (it's "softened" a bit since first purchase, but is still quite firm), and is actually quite a good shot with it, though I don't care for it as well as I do my 1911's or Glock, but that's what makes a market, I guess!

She also has a P22 (I think that one sold her on getting the P99-QA) and is looking at the PPK and PPK/S's in .380 "real hard" now that I picked up a Bersa .380 CC for carry in instances that make the others difficult to take along.

I just picked up the P22 for my wife yesterday. We haven't shot it yet, but after her holding the Rugers and Brownings, that gun felt best by a wide margin. I also like that it came with a 2nd inter-changeable backstrap.

I had a P99 QA .40 for awhile. Had to get rid of it, But this summer I will be getting a new one. Great firearms, Loved it. I recommended it to everyone I know that is looking for a handgun, but as the Black Sheep of the gun world, everyone I know got a Glock. :(

I own two. Shoot my 9mm AS (Original Interams importer) in IDPA and use my .40 AS for carry.
