Who's got Gen 4's?

I have put quite a few rounds through my Gen4 19 and have no issues at all. A mix of +p, standard factory and my own reloads have run through the gun with no problems.

I've only been a Glock armorer for a couple of months and been in sales for three months but I have had zero reports from my clients about any issues.

According to the regional Glock representative, there were some issues with early productions of the gen 4's and replacement parts were made available to correct the problem. To the best of my knowledge, there are no problems with the current production.

This is a september '11 gun. Ejector is stamped 336 and the new replacement is 30274 which is probably an october '11 addition since I didn't get one. (This is info I have collected from the collective hive-mind of the internet but the CS rep did say they updated the ejector as well).

My Gen 3 Glocks are more reliable then my S&W and Ruger revolver. That is I have sent both the S&W and Ruger back to the factory before but never the Glocks. 3rd gens are going for premium prices because of this. Like the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". It's the same thing with new car models. By the third year of a models run they start to get all the bugs out and find out whats wrong and then of course they have to go and change everything so it has the latest and greatest looks and options. By next year all the problems will be fixed and one of the other big firearms companies will release the latest and greatest and have bugs to work out as well.

Hmm, I don't really agree with this, not from what I see as a dealer now. Of course, it wouldn't surprise me that some retailers might be selling gen 3's at full MSRP because some people are convinced Gen4 models have reliability issues. I just don't see it, other than occasional anecdotal data (remember, the plural of "anecdote" is not "data" ). The Gen4 is definitely a superior model to the Gen 3, but only in relatively subtle ways (unless you're a leftie).

I know people that STILL don't like Glocks because they heard how "unsafe" they were with "cops getting their feet shot off." It's amazing how anecdotes from the 80's still linger on. Heck, to this day, I still meet people that think Glocks are ceramic (or plastic) and can be taken through airport security undetected

I remember a while back you could get a 4th gen new for maybe 20 bucks more then a slightly used 3rd gen in .40 or 9mm. Just checking gunbroker it doesn't seem as bad as it was 6 months to a year ago but I remember when people where trading in there 4gens after a few FTFs for used or new old stock third gens. I would go into a local shop and see several slightly used gen 4s setting in the case. It was hard to find a used 3rd gen for a decent price. Still used glocks hold there value pretty well, 4th gen or not.

I think the main problem is that people thought Glocks could never jam and so if they got one that had a problem they thought it was a lemon and got rid of them ASAP. My local gun shop told me that they have had very few gen 4s with problems but that the S&W M&P has become just as popular as Glock in firearm sales. Like I said "latest and greatest" 5 years ago everybody was screaming about the XDs and everybody was buying one and keeped saying how they were the best.

One has to wonder "Was the purpose to make a cheaper weapon, or to make a better weapon?" The Glock used to be considered pretty reliable, maybe now the best that can be said for it is it is almost as good.

I have both the Gen4 G26 and G19. The G19 has close to 2500 rounds through it and I've had no problems. I went ahead and changed the RSA when Glock announced their exchange program, and promptly went through about 600 rounds. Again.. no problems. I'm working with the original ejector... I'll probably send it in for replacement after the first of the year.

G26 has been flawless through about 600 rounds.

I have a Gen 4 Glock 35, around 750 rds through it without a single malfunction. Matter of fact the only two malfunctions I've had in all of my Glocks is one misfire due to a improperly seated primer, and a frame rail breaking on my gen 2 22 which was in the recalled group. I knew nothing of that recall until speaking with Glock. Now that 22 is my Gen 2.5 gen 2 slide on a gen 3 frame.

I've been shooting IDPA with my Gen4 G17 for the last couple of years. I average around 1,000 rounds per month through it, so I'd say at this point I have an easy 25,000 rounds through it. I replaced the recoil spring at around 5,000 rounds when a Glock armorer informed me that I had a first version spring and should probably replace it with the newer fourth version. I also put a glocktriggers.com Challenger trigger in it. Other than the occasional limp wristed stove pipe that is totally my fault I have yet to see a malfunction. Oh, but I have suffered one kaboom that blew hot gases through the trigger opening and stung my finger. No damage to the pistol though.

Yesterday I ordered my second Glock, a Gen4 G34. I'm looking forward to the same amazing performance I've seen with my first Glock.

Traded my 3rd Gen G27 in for a 4th Gen 23 last month while I was home on leave. I got mine a Nagle's in San Antonio--$450 for Military/LE special and it came with 3 mags. I only had the time to put about 450 rounds through it before leave was over, but it will replace my 27 as my primary carry weapon when I finally get home for good. I, too, was a Glock-hater once....until I actually owned one! Never had an issue with any Glock I've owned!

It was to give those that complained of the blocky grip something more like the M&P which was taking a good chunk of the Non-LEO market. The 3rd gen G19 has been one of the most reliable guns that I have, just like the M&P's. G19 conceals better for me.....
