...this is why a lot of folks hate rent-a-cops...it's traditional to munch and shop...and pay for the package as you check out...I used to do 30 hours a weekend off-duty and the worst that'd happen is if I saw someone ditch something partly eaten, I'd interrupt their shopping and make them go up and pay for it loudly and in an embarrassing manner...that'd break 'em...this guy's reeking of civil liability...

Much like the woman and child being separated for 12 hours over a unpaid-for sandwich.

Everyone says "Think of the children" and in these cases they should have.

Both the child in this case and the one I mention may have long-term fear and distrust of authority figures.

A "confession" or other legal document signed by a minor isn't legally binding.

It's too bad one someone didn't give the guard what he had coming.

Zero Tolernence is evil and dangerous, and needs to be fought by thinking, compassionate people at every opportunity. Ditto for Political Correctness.

"Zero Tolerance" is one of the biggest problems with American schools, as well. It gives the school administration the ability to NOT get to the root of the problem, and just levy punishment on anyone and everyone involved. Of course, that penalizes those who were in the right as much as it does those in the wrong. But I bet their lawyers and insurance people LOVE it...as well as those who are against things like self-defense. And when you add over-zealous law-enforcement officers, things go from bad to worse, in a real hurry. What ever happened to right and wrong? Oh, yeah, that required a common set of standards and the left just couldn't allow that...

Even worse, school admimistrators are paid more than ever before, while ZT reduces the amount of thought and wisdom required to do their jobs.
