My recent trip to Vegas I had changed my IPhone screen wallpaper to a pic of my .38 and 1911. Leaving Houston, TSA wanted to see the phone turned on. The agent saw that screen saver and asked "you like guns?" I responded "LOVE EM". He then asked if I had them with me. I just looked at him like he blew the first question on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Leaving Vegas, that agent just simply said" Nice".

I'm sorry, but this is sort of expected of the TSA. However what is difficult for me to understand is that the girl is 17 and pregnant.

I was flying home from visiting family over Thanksgiving. I apparently "beeped" going through the metal detector (no, I didn't as I travel enough, as in too much, to know what does/does not set them off...but apparently it beeped "randomly"...had it happen before..."um, well, uh, that means you need a secondary inspection"...yeah, right...I see other folks getting the chance to "try it again"...hmmmm...but not me...I know the game/drill...

So anyway, my "life lesson" from this, after being informed that I was going to be frisked with the backs of his hands inside my thighs, around my waistband, collar, etc....and asked "Do you have any sensitive body areas?" Well, being a guy, and knowing that his hands, were going to be *very* close to the family jewels, I answered truthfully, and I think that most guys would agree, that is a VERY sensitive area....I'm not going to type the answer here, it's not vulgar, it is "cleaner" than the correct anatomical term and it is commonly heard...apparently he didn't like that answer and asked that question again....I gave the same answer straightfaced...something about saying the actual anatomy part(s) sounded "dirtier" to me, next time that is what I will do. :biggrinjester: Hey, you ask someone an obviously stupid question...you get the answer you get, which is the truth! I did warn him of a knee-jerk reflex that I have...he called in a supervisor and made it very quick...I must say, he had delicate hands...no knee-jerk reflex...my wife felt sorry for the guy, but like I told her..."he doesn't have to take the job"...life is to short to deal with hassles, I mean TSA.

What part don't you understand, 17 or pregnant?

That's kind of old to get pregnant, isn't it? I know...joking, sad but true...

My wife's comment regarding pregnant teens: "If you didn't want to go to Chicago, why'd you get on the train?"

That said, TSA is just plain dumb......when they're not fondling passengers. I've set it before, and I'll say it again.....there is no place in the United States I care to visit that I can't drive to; and I don't need to visit the ones I can't drive to badly enough to put up with TSA's crap.

There it is - on both accounts!

PS:

Speaking of attire, when I first started commericial airline travel back in the mid sixties, it was suits and ties for the men and hats and gloves for the ladies. When I quit with commercial airline travel in 2001, I couldn't help but look around me at the other passengers and wonder who was riding the buses.

I get it that the TSA doesn't want to deal with physical objects that look like guns. IF they were doing their job, they should detect objects shaped like guns in passenger luggage. But the relief of the object on the side of that purse is so shallow that it cannot qualify as a separate object. One quick look shows that it is part of the background. Screening for pictures of guns is the height of stupidity.

I'm amazed at how few teens are well informed about pregnancy and its prevention. About all they can do after they sew their wild oats is pray for crop failure.

:iagree: On both accounts. There are many places I would love to go and visit that require a flight, but until I can be certain that my children and I won't be assaulted/irradiated or even better both, we will just have to take a car or a train or not go. As for the pregnant part---I don't automatically assume 17 and pregnant=stupid because quite honestly my grandmother had her first child at 17 (she was married to my grandfather at the time--he was 18). That does not seem to be the case here, so I would just give the advice that my AP gov't teacher gave "Either be good, or be good at it." "Be good or be smart--one of the two."

Wish I had that option... but being employed, when the company dictate that I be 2000 miles away from home and get there in less than 8 hours of travel, my options are limited - fly or risk losing my job. I kind of like my job. Fortunately, the company rarely (once every two or three years) makes the dictate to me.
