Well we're loading up the family truckster this weekend and heading to the boats for a weekend of sin.
Of course Louisiana honors the Texas CHL and I've done some research online to see where one may not legally carry. The state does not restrict carrying in the casino's (the best I can tell) but can anyone advise if they recall seeing signage that prohibits the carrying from the casino management? Specifically I am interested in Horseshoe (Shreveport). It's been a couple of years since I've been and I don't recall.
Thanks
David

I'm not sure that "liquor" is the deciding factor, but it does depend on the type of liquor license they have. The class of license that restricts carry is also "21+ only", so if you must be 21 to enter, you can't carry there (which means all casinos).Liberty wrote:My intererpritatation may be wrong, but;
It is illegal to conceal carry where liquor is served. they serve liquor in Casinos.
Of course, there are also non-liquor places that are 21+, such as the little video poker booths found in just about every convenience store and restaurant. I don't think carry is restricted in those places.

Then should that not apply to the lobby of the hotel then? In other words will I be in violation transporting the weapon from the car, to the hotel check in, to the room?Liberty wrote:My intererpritatation may be wrong, but;

Well I figured as much but just wasn't 100% sure.Liberty wrote:Taking it into the Lobby at the hotel is fine I believe and checking it into the room is fine. It becomes illegal when you step pass the security people as you get onto the boat.
In theory they'll never know I have it anyway. I just like to stay in compliance. Especially in Louisiana. :-)
Louisiana rules for carry include the following "prohibited area":
Any portion of the permitted area of an establishment that has been granted a Class A-General retail permit, as defined in Part II of Chapter 1 or Part II of Chapter 2 of Title 26 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises
Since alcoholic drinks are sold and/or served on the casino floor, this would be a prohibited area. The hotel lobby would not be.
