Drive By-WWYD?

...agreed...if parents had to pay up, they'd put out effort to parent...and where such sprees used to cost hundreds, now it's not uncommon for them to rack up several THOUSANDS of dollars worth of damage in one night...
Re: Drive By-WWYD?
That's what I was getting at earlier...I certainly can't tell the difference between BB and .17 HMR or .22 LR at ANY sort of distance at just a glance. And I'd bet very few others can either...one of them kids getting themselves shot doing something like that might NOT make the rest of 'em take notice...but that one kid sure wouldn't be doing it again (not that I am wishing for that or advocating it, for the record). And to those who say, "What if it was YOUR kid"? Well, even though no one can be 100% certain, I'm pretty sure I've trained my kids a whole lot better when it comes to both handling firearms, and not purposely damaging other peoples' property.speedsix wrote:...now here you and I stand, completely agreeing on something...whodathunkit??? I've been laughed at a lot in my life, but I AIN'T gonna be laughed at for tellin' St. Peter "I kinda thought it might be just a BB gun or pellet rifle he was pointin' at me...he seemed like such a NICE boy, who was surely tryin' to turn his life around"...you don't play with guns...not in this world...not at all...

Re: Drive By-WWYD?
BB guns have changed through the years
What was a toy back in the day is now a dangerous weapon and can be deadley.
Now a lot of them can fire both BB and pellet.
They can be pumped up to a high pressure giving a high muzzle velosity
A BB can do serious bodily harm to a victim after going thru a window into a house.
Shooting a BB into a house needs to be a felony same as shooting a .22 into a house.
I guess the Notorious Window Busters are too stupid to realize
the possible consequences of their foolish actions

I dont have kids.... but I have parents. I can tell you that had I been caught doing something like this as a kid..... I would have been taken out to the woodshed and beaten ... in the most literal sense I can posibly express. Beaten. And I guarantee you, I wouldn't have done it again.

LOL. Ain't that the truth. It amazes me the difference between the way my parents are and the way parents are today... generally... not all parents.

Re: Drive By-WWYD?
I watch parents out in public "negotiating" with their brats. It makes me want to tell them to just spank the little jerks. One day those children will become young out of control teens and those are the same parents who will act like they didn't do anything wrong. Watch kids in restaurants acting like they are possessed by the devil and their parents just allow the behavior. Many times they reinforce it by giving the little brats everything they want. What should happen is the little heathens should be taken outside and spanked. Funny thing is, most of the time these parents are older...35 and above. Maybe older parents think they are doing the brat a service by "being patient". Unfortunately for us, these kids grow up and then we are forced to deal with the unproductive behavior the parents instilled in them.

Re: Drive By-WWYD?
...you can cover THAT group with a dime!!! my parents didn't have to say a WORD..."the LOOK" said it all...right down to how badly it was going to hurt...my Mom...85 this month...still says "you can't blame it on ME...I TRIED to beat it out of you"...I can't imagine what she means
...ps-if I'd known how young you are, I'd have watched my language around you a little better...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Sprout!!!

Re: Drive By-WWYD?
You can't totally blame the parents. Thr gov calls most forms of desepline some kind of child abuse
As a parent you lose your gun rights if you try to do anything about a recalcatory teen.
Possible jail time for a simple spanking. The Gov demands parents control their kids
and at the same time the Gov makes it impossible to do it. The kids know this
and they use it to get away with anything.
I worked in a reform school ( it was not a plesant expierence)for 5 years and
it was full of kids that went too far and the parents
were not allowed to do anyhting until it went way too far.
Our schools are fast turning into breeding grounds for street gangs and boot leg pharmacies
This country is in deep trouble and getting worse fast
I know I will get some flack from this post maybe it will get through to some of you

It sounds like criminal mischief. If they're too chicken to do it during the day, the law is clear that shooting is justified to stop them.

...no flack, tommyg, but I raised three sons in Texas from 87 till today...and NEVER has the law told me I couldn't spank my sons...and I have done a reasonable amount of that...my now 25-year-old called 911 once because he was spanked...he was 7 or 8...and the officer told him he'd be happy to hold him while I spanked him again...if I needed his help...
...if parents don't employ physical punishment in Texas as needed in a loving manner...they can't blame it on the government...the sky is NOT falling...

Indeed, pointing a weapon at someone that looks like gun, and acts like a gun, tends to garner a response like it is a gun.Oldgringo wrote:Kill a couple of 'em and the others may wise up.
