nerd on bicycle packin heat ...

Post by rcasady »

had a fuse blow in my truck so i decided to ride my bicycle to the auto parts store . it was 5 miles each way  lol i dont ride too much lately so it was good exercise , anyway , like most of you i dont leave home without it . my lil sig was in im IWB holster at 3 0clock wearing light shorts just pedaling away . I
didnt have a single issue and i was riding pretty rough too , through the ditches and over rocks ..i dont ride in the street (its a mountain bike )
it was a good experiment too, im much more confident taking a ride on a light trail or around memorial park . if i was hiting the trails hard (like jack brooks) id probably choose another carry ,method for fear of having a good crash .
any other bicycle riders carrying ?

Maybe something with some good retention. Wouldn't want to loose your hand gun on a fall or hard bump.

Be sure the parts store is not legally posted
May be difficult to leave a gun on an unattened bicycle
or get it out to hide it on a bicycle

The problem with a backpack or camelback is that they're on your back, and not up front where you might need it in a hurry. When I've been out on my bike, the fanny pack turned around to the front works just fine.

That's a problem on college campuses too.
I guess I'd need to shop for some secure saddlebags if I decide to go to those countries.

An XD subcompact fits well in one of these.

I've also used a Belly Band.

My wife's LCP fits nicely in the saddle bag I bought for the purpose. Yeah, hanging from the seat of my Specialized Rockhopper isn't the same as on-body, but it's better than nothing...

I've been using the PT-1 shown here -

It holds my SA XD40 SC plus my cell phone and protects them from sweat.

Ditto on the belly band for Pistol Wear. I use it with my Kahr CW9 on some pretty substancial mountain bike rides. It eventually falls into place as I ride. I've also carried in my Camelbak that has a side pocket that is somewhat accessible without taking the pack off.

The draw from the belly band is really slow and a bit akward compared to my Crossbreed but it at least puts it on my body.
