Anyone own or shot a Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine
I am thinking of picking up another carbine. I have several ARs, even one that is designated as a .22 lr. I have been looking at a PCC (pistol caliber carbine.) I am thinking of going with a 9mm because we own more 9mms than anything else. I have been looking at several, but I am looking at the Beretta CX4 do to the interchangeability with my Beretta 92.
I am hoping that someone on here can give me their thoughts on the CX4 storm carbine. I have never shot one so I would like to hear ideas before I spend my money on one.
Thanks for any and all help.

They are great I think. I owned one for quite a while and regret ever selling it. It was accurate, light weight, soft shooting, and felt very high quality. 100% reliable with every ammo I used including 124grn HP. The iron sights are are easy to use and its ambidextrous to boot. IF and I say IF you can get a good price on one I would buy another in a second. I have an AR in 9mm and an MP5 clone in 9mm and I would STILL buy another CX4.

They are decent shooters - a good friend of mine bought a CX4 .40S&W when they first came out and we have shot the heck out of it without any issues at all (and he hardly ever cleans it). I am not a huge fan of the trigger or the recoil impulse, but neither is a dealbreaker. I would definitely opt for 9mm - it seems like the .40S&W and .45ACP versions are less supported by after-market companies. I believe there are two or three magazine styles the 9mm CX4 can be purchased in - be sure you get the one that best suits your needs.

Did you like the CX4 better than you AR in 9mm? Right now the prices for the CX4 are about the same as a AR upper in 9mm and i have even found a couple of complete ARs for the same price.

My brother-in-law has one in .45. I like it a lot. He put an Eotech red dot sight and at surefire light and uses it has his go to gun for HD. He has been an LEO for over 20 years and has been in SWAT for a good number of years. He has a big gun collection including a number of ARs outfitted very well, and he chooses the CX4 for his bedside gun. That is about as positive feedback I could give on it. I have shot his and it is great. I would by one without hesitation if I just didn't already have so many guns on my "short" list.

The CX4 is more reliable than my AR. It also takes a pistol mag so if you have a 92 or a px4 storm then you have mag compatibility depending on what model of CX4 you buy.. That is a huge bonus. My AR takes the Colt style stick mags. They are not expensive and are well made.
I'm not saying my AR is unreliable, but my CX4 never had a failure. There is less adjust ability is the CX4 and it is a rather small weapon. The AR also takes a special mag block in the lower to accept stick mags..whether Colt style c-products mags, modified UZI mags, or modified Sten gun mags. The mag block is not cheap and requires some fiddling with it to work reliably. Or you can buy a dedicated 9mm AR lower and a dedicated 9mm AR upper.

I've actually owned the HiPoint, Keltec, CX4 and RRA 9mm carbines. The only one I own now is the RRA. I love that it's the AR platform and also the mag capacity. I picked up my RRA of TGT for a great price. And sold the CX4 for not much less. I went and shot the RRA the other wknd and put about 500 rnds and not issues so far. Granted 500 rnds really can't tell the reliability of a firearm
Re: Anyone own or shot a Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine
Just to add my two cents, I had one years ago in 9mm and have nothing bad to say about it. Reliable and very accurate. I had the rails and fake suppressor on mine. The fake suppressor just makes the front end look better than a plain skinny barrel. i wouldnt mind an SBR one if they were cheaper. There is a built in hideaway rail on the front that is strong but very floppy. It slides in and out when needed.

Re: Anyone own or shot a Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine
I had a CX4 9mm for 2-3 years and had an inexpensive tac light on the under rail and an ATN heads-up sight on the top. It was fun to plink with and pretty accurate out to 50 yards unsupported. Very well made and easy to field strip. About the time I had mine there was a fellow that posted quite a bit on the Beretta chat forum that had started making metal buffers, then later metal (adjustable) trigger parts for the CX4 and made them available to members there to "test". Apparantly he was successful as Brownell's (I think) started carrying his replacement parts kits. Although expensive, the CX4 is a fine weapon, although I found I had little practical use for it and could not afford the ammunition diet it seemed to want
. Prior to that, I had a KT Sub 2000 9mm (Beretta mag/grip), and it was just as accurate and fun to shoot, but without a bit of extra padding it could be punishing to a shoulder after a couple hundred rounds.
The 9mm carbines definately have their place, just not my cup of tea now. I do have a bit of lust for a pristine 70's model Marlin .357 mag carbine though

Re: Anyone own or shot a Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine
Thanks for all the input guys. I am still trying to decide which way to go. I currently have an AR lower that I could build one into a 9mm, but I was planning on building it into an SPR. I would like to have another rifle that I can use as a deer rifle for my girls and also my primary varmint rifle. I could wait on that if I truly decide that the AR 9mm is better than the CX4. Price wise they are gonna be about the same.

Re: Anyone own or shot a Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine
I personally have had good luck with my 9mm AR, I have read lots of other that had teething issues or reliability issues. Usually a problem with the mag bock fitting or the quality of mags. I know of no problem at all with the CX4. I also think the CX4 will will be cheaper to get into that a 9mm AR CX4 around $750 AR around $900-1k

Re: Anyone own or shot a Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine
I had an opportunity to compare the size and weight of both a CX4 and an AR15 9mm this weekend. The CX4 is much shorter, more compact and lighter than the AR15. I think that the CX4 will be more maneuverible the AR in a home setting.

I shot one and it was ok. I don't like rifles that take mags in the grip. Spend a little more and you can get a nice hk mp5 clone. If you never plan to make it full auto the MKE 94p is a good way to get started. a couple 922 parts and you can put a stock on it. Pay a $200 SBR tax and get the barrel cut down and threaded to spec with a 3 lug on it for not much money.
They handle great, look great, and have little recoil. Way less than a storm or an AR 9mm.

I had one in .45. I love the thing, but you couldn't find mags (which were only 8rds anyway) and so I gave up on it and sold it. Built an AR and haven't looked back. In 9mm they're great though because mags are readily available in various capacities. I think now I'd probably still choose an AR, but it's a good pistol caliber carbine.
