If it's a handgun, anyway you want as long as it's concealed.ltd1st wrote:How do you carry in your car?

Re: car carry
By preferred car carry is a BUG in an ankle holster. Stays concealed while still being easily accessed.
Re: car carry
Same as Home Depot. On my hip moved slightly forward. I like paddle holsters so it can be moved a little when I'm sitting down versus standing up.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

You didn't specify if it's CHL or MPA. If you're carrying under MPA I'd advise you to not carry on your person. In the event you're stopped and asked to exit your vehicle you'd be in violation of the law.ltd1st wrote:How do you carry in your car?

...not if you advised the officer that you were carrying concealed on your person under MPA...once you do that...you're acting under his direction and he can't pull you out then bust you...if he had any concerns, he could disarm you...but not arrest you...

SpeedsIx is correct.
Now of you get out of the car while armed and never notify him that you are armed, that is both a different story and being stupid.

Got a new wrinkle in my brain... I wasn't aware advising the LEO would let you off the hook. thanksspeedsix wrote:...not if you advised the officer that you were carrying concealed on your person under MPA...once you do that...you're acting under his direction and he can't pull you out then bust you...if he had any concerns, he could disarm you...but not arrest you...

Re: car carry
Handgun rides in the center console and long gun rides in the back floorboard covered with a towel so nobody smashes and grabs when I'm not around.
Re: car carry
I can draw from my cross IWB holster sitting down just requires leaning forward a tad, if I am worried about how fast I will be able to get to it (going to a drive through ATM for instance) I remove it from the holster and put it in the center console or next to me covered with something
Re: car carry
As long as you can prove that you did notify the LEO before being asked to step out of the vehicle. A great number of LEOs have recording devices running, but I don't know if they all do. It would be just my luck to come in contact with the last LEO in Texas without a recording device running and they were not honest enough to admit that I had notified them first. A couple of pretty big IF's there, so make your own call. There's a guy up in Ohio, I think, that was extremely grateful for an officer's video and audio recording with regards to this very issue. I think that one just resolved late last year or early this year.puma guy wrote:Got a new wrinkle in my brain... Re: car carry
...if carrying on my person concealed, I would only notify the officer that I was carrying if he asked me either to step out(which in Texas is unusual in itself) or if I had a weapon in the car...THEN I'd notify him what I was carrying and ask him if he wanted me to disarm before complying with his step-out request...if he said not to disarm, just step out...I'd trust his honesty and do so...I've been here since 84 and never met a Texas LEO with an "out to getcha" attitude...sometimes you just gotta act in good faith and trust them to, also...
...puma guy...in the original situation...you weren't "on the hook" while sitting in your car...so if he directs you to step out and you notify him and ask him what to do...then it's on him...and, if he's honest...no hook...

I don't need to worry about whether he has recording devices working, because I am also recording the conversation if I am interacting with an LEO .C-dub wrote:As long as you can prove that you did notify the LEO before being asked to step out of the vehicle. If I am going to or from work while in uniform I have a Beretta on my hip. If I'm not in uniform, I probably have one concealed on my hip. And I also probably have another Beretta 96 within reach.
