This is an easy question, and one which I should know. But i cannot remember the procedure I need to go through when I move. I am in the process of moving to Arkansas. I know they reciprocate with Texas. I will probably go ahead and get my Arkansas CHL. But is that something I need to make a priority? Or will my Texas CHL be sufficient for a while?
Also, remind me of what I need to do about getting a change of address.
Thanks in advance,
Keith

Re: Easy Question-Moving procedures
You will have to check Arkansas law for how they want that handled; however, your Texas CHL will remain active and valid here in Texas as long as you continue to renew it.Rigby470 wrote:This is an easy question, and one which I should know. To change address go to Texasonline.com, select other services and follow the CHL links.

Assuming that Arkansas doesn't have a problem with it, you can get a Texas ID card with your Arkansas address, and update your CHL to show your Arkansas address.
Due to a quirk in the law, a non-resident with a Texas CHL must also have a Texas ID card when carrying in Texas.
Your Texas CHL won't work for bypassing NICS in Arkansas, though; that only works in the issuing state.

They have recently changed the requirement for a Texas ID for a non-resident license, it's no longer needed.

Yep. In fact, DPS will not even issue an ID card to a non-resident.ElGato wrote:They have recently changed the requirement for a Texas ID for a non-resident license, it's no longer needed.
