Wyndham rifles
Wyndham rifles
Anyone heard of them? One of the venders here at the Mesquite Gun Show has some and they look real nice.

Original owner and workers of Bushmaster. Hideous roll mark other than that you can build a better rifle yourself for about the same price imo. Its not very hard to put a lower together and you can buy complete uppers if you don't feel like you could build your own.

Re: Wyndham rifles
They're great rifles, actually. Born from Bushmaster ( the new owners abandoned the plant in Windham, MA - that's "Windham" not Wyndham) and they have high acclaim. I think their name doesn't get around a lot (yet) because it doesn't have a tacticool name or logo.

Re: Wyndham rifles
Back at home. I picked up a few spare G21 mags.
Those Windham rifles look good. They had quad rails and rubber grips, bipod, and vertical fore grip that folded up. They also came with either a reflex sight, holographic sight or magnified scope and 6-position stock. I don't remember which brand, so I'll have to look closer next time. If I don't find anything up in Kansas I'll have to take a closer look at them when I come back. I'm really stuck on that RUC-14.5, thank you very much GigAg.
The twist is 1:7 on the RUC and 1:9 on the Windham. I think I can shoot up to 66 grain pretty well with the 1:9 twist, right? Has anyone that has a 1:9 twist wished they would have gotten a 1:7 twist barrel?

Re: Wyndham rifles
This is an extremely valid point, C-Dub. I always ask people up front if they intent to shoot "heavies" (70+ gr) in their rifle. If they do, then they really _need_ a 1:7 twist. I generally discourage 1:9 unless people are just looking for a 100 yard plinker carbine. On the other hand, unless you're firing heavies out past the 400 yd range, 1:9 works fine. Some manufacturers are moving to 1:8 twist now to accommodate the widest range of ammo.C-dub wrote:Back at home. I picked up a few spare G21 mags.

Re: Wyndham rifles
I don't intend for my rifle be just for plinking. The heavier rounds are better for two legged varmint's should the need arise, no?
