Well I got the EMP back. It was totally free. They Armory Koted the Magazine Catch and the Grip Safety as well as replaced the grip screws. They also tested it and so we will see how it holds up now to the humidity. I am hoping all works out.

Well after 10 days of wear the gun is rusting still. No amount of stuff helps. The only thing that stops this is putting it up and not carrying it. Now the pin that holds the mainspring housing is rusting and the grip screws are still rusting. I have wiped it down with oil repeatedly. That does help but I am thinking this is not the best choice in carry weapons. Even though it's design dictates that it should be. I am going to order some new grip screws for it then just keep it well oiled. My next thing is to ditch the combat cut crossbreed holster since it exposes the hand grip to my sweaty side LOL. Don't you just love living in a hot humid climate. Although in dry places you have to worry about all the dust and sand getting in there but I would take that anyday. Although I could skip Odessa and the like due to the constant wind and sand blowing in my face. No perfect place out there I guess for a piece of machinery. Accept my safe.

I've been watching for this update. I have a stainless ultra compact that I have sent back for an accuracy issue and have never seen rust. Carry it everyday in cbst. Unsolicited advice....call them, get a label and send it back for replacement. They are very good and you paid way too much money for a gun you have to baby daily.

Before you throw in the towel, I recommend you give Eezox a try.

We have an old Master padlock on the front gate that has always needed periodic oiling due to internal rusting. Months ago, when it needed it again, I put a few drops of Eezox in it and worked the lock a few times. It still works as smooth as a brand new lock.

Eezox is the only thing I've used on any of my guns for a couple of years now. No sign of rust or anything else. Detail strip the pistol and wipe every part down with a patch that is damp with Eezox. Let them dry and do it one more time. Reassemble it and carry away.

I even used Eezox on a patch to remove a couple of small rust spots from my father's 1959 Browning Sweet Sixteen. There are a few folks on the forum that have seen that shotgun and can attest to what a fine piece it is.

Having already sent it in once I really don't want to send it back a second time. I really don't want to have to baby it though.

I will try that stuff my only issue is the stuff just rubbing off. All the surfaces on the outside are where I have the issue with the exception being the grip safety and the mag catch since they did armory kote those pieces for me. I wear this gun 16 hours a day. I wake up put it on and don't take it off till I go to bed. Of course I do take it off to shower LOL. I won't give up on it because it's just so damn accurate. I have had several .40 cal. pistols and this one beats them all in this particular barrel length.

Pawpaw, I order that stuff. I am willing to give it a shot since it wasn't very expensive. Does it have a very strong smell? I am guessing it will but hope the smell dissapates quickly. I don't want to smell like a factory walking around LOL. Thanks for the advice, with any luck this will eliminate my troubles.

It has a somewhat strong smell, but it's a good one. I clean my guns in the living room while my sister and our 84 year old mother watch TV. They both like the smell and it dissipates pretty fast.

It's not at all a "chemical" smell. It's sort of "perfumy" smelling.

Here's a thread that discusses some of this.

What did they "coat" the pieces with? My ceracoat job is still holding up well, no rusting, and have literally had condensation running off of it some days after being outside for a while working. (yeah, I know, not very girly - but I never have been one to glisten) I am just glad the coating seems to be working for me! Hope you find a solution!

They use their own stuff it's called Armory Kote. It seems to work ok but I don't think they used it on the screws or the pin holding the mainspring housing in place.

I just had Mr. Honeycutt at Grip Reductions coat anything metal on the outside. So far - 4 months later all is well. One time after a long day working outside I thought it was corroding again, but when I wiped it with my towel I realized it was salt residue... It is hot in SE Texas!

I hear you on the hot part. We just got transferred to New Orleans. I honestly did not think it could get more humid but it is. It's awful outside. We were in Seabrook before this move and I grew up in Spring. I am very familiar with the heat it sucks. I am trying the Eezox stuff currently to attempt to keep the rust at bay.

Just wanted to update this. The grip screws still rust. The armory kote stuff on the backstrap safety has worn off in one place the same for the slide catch. The Eezox stuff works though. I apply it about once a month or after I go to the range. So in short Eezox works the SA Armory Kote doesn't hold up very well. I will be looking into other coatings. Don't know what I should go for yet. I would love to have it custom done with a matte pattern on it. SA wanted alot for their coatings though. The price I was told was somewhere around 400 bux.

If I didn't just love this gun I would just put it in the safe never to carry again.

Well I am still dealing with the rust issue. Eezox stuff works but you have to apply it about once a month. Even then you have to make sure you really work it into the metal. So now I am looking into some coatings. What's the best for a DIY coating. I am fairly skilled at painting so possibly I could apply it. I plan on just doing the frame and any pieces that are not stainless steel.

Out of curiosity, have you tried a different holster?
