juvenile arrest

Post by JCXD40 »

My husband was arrested in 1978 for minor in possesion, in Kansas. His record was expunged but we weren't sure whether or not we still needed to list it. I figured it was better to tell them even if it wasn't necessary than not tell them and have it seem as though he were hiding something. I've read a number of things and I'm not sure if we did the right thing or not. Should we have left it off the application and if so, will it slow down the approval process because we included it? I just assumed honesty is the best policy. What do y'all think??

Since he already listed it, your husband should get a certified copy of the disposition from Kansas. They probably don't have any record, so they can give you a letter that states no records found.

I agree. It likely DPS wouldn't have found it on their own, but lying on a CHL application is wrong and possibly illegal.

Getting caught with a beer as a teenager in the previous century shouldn't affect him getting a CHL now.
I sincerely apologize to anybody I offended by suggesting the Second Amendment also applies to The People who don't work for the government.
