Glock 27 carry for bigger size people???
Hello, I am looking for a Sub-compact carry, but 3/4 of the subs I shot. Ended up blistering my hand from being small gun in a big hand.. So i was asking how is the comfort level for the big handed people with a G27?

The Glock 26/27 is adaptable and comfortable
big handed people ... doesn't matter since you can adapt to a bigger magazine
I had a 27, but carry a 26 now; sold the 27
I usually carry Glock 26 with the 18 round magazine, but have carried the 20 round mag
18= a Glock 19 mag which holds 15 rounds and +3 base plate
20 = Glock 17 mag for 17 and a +3 base plate
Now, if you want to "keep it small" carry the Glock 26 with the standard Glock 26 mag for 10 and a +3 base plate for 13 rounds and a comfortable finger rest for the pinkie
(for a Glock 27 or 26)
Base plate with great finger rest This adds capacity of one additional .40 round in a 27; possibly 2 additional rounds (I get 2 additional in in .40)
http://www.pearcegrip.com/Products/GLOCK/PG-39" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If just carrying the "standard mag and a pinkie adapter from Pearce to add 1 round (in .40 S&W) you don't need a soft mag spacer/adapter from X grip
soft magazine spacer adapter for comfort

in 9mm mags
I have
Standard Glock 26 mags: The base plate finger rest is great
10 rd
11 rd (a +1 base plate)
12 rd (a +2 base plate)
13 rd (a +3 base plate)
Standard Glock 19 mags: The base plate finger rest is not really used (except to add capacity), the mag spacer is used for larger hands
15 rd
16 rd (a +1 base plate)
17 rd (a +2 base plate)
18 rd (a +3 base plate)

Re: Glock 27 carry for bigger size people???
I carry a 27 and it is very easy for me to conceal! I am about 5foot 9in and about 170. I have a medium sized palm with long skinny fingers (I wear a size 7 ring and it is a little loose, LOL) so it is very easy for me. If you have yourself a set a bear paws my guess is something like a G29sf or G30sf might work better. My buddy is 6 foot 8inchs and has massive hands and he loves his Glock 30. For me it is a little harder to conceal but for him it is easy. He is one of those tall and big guys so he could hide a bazooka . LOL
Re: Glock 27 carry for bigger size people???
Thanks guys.. I am 6'3" and about 220lbs. I hve the G19 4th gen, and I love it, but I want to carry at work and the G19 sticks out of my pants pockets and I have to pick up a lot of stuff, so using it on my belt might show. Thanks, I'll look into the G30sf and G27.

Actually the G30 is really more of a compact then a sub compact. The grip and slide are thicker but the gun is not quite as tall and as long as a G19. I don't know if it would be any easier to conceal? Could be harder then a G19.
Re: Glock 27 carry for bigger size people???
I can't compare a G30 with a G19, but I can compare it to a G17, which is just a smidgen bigger than your G19. The G30 is easier to conceal.
Both the G27 & G26 are great subcompacts. I have a buddy who is about your size, he carries a G27 in his front right pocket 24/7.

Re: Glock 27 carry for bigger size people???
The only thing the G30 and G19 have in common is similar height and length. Other then that it is a totally different gun. For me thickness is usually not as big as a problem with concealment as the grip length. Put it this way. My single stack S&W 908 is thinner then my Glock 27 but since the 27 has a shorter grip it is easier to hide. Your body type will of course make it different for everybody and I think the skinny guys have the hardest time.

I have a 27 but don't like to shoot it because it has too much recoil for an old man.

Re: Glock 27 carry for bigger size people???
I felt the same way when I first got my 27. Then I later bought a Glock 20 and snub nose 38.LOL! Made the 40S&W seem easy to shoot. Trade it in for a 26! Nothing wrong with 9mm. I actually wish I would have gotten the 26. 9mm +P and .40 S&W really have more in common then most give credit. If I really want to pack an extra punch I will bring out the 10mm but there is really no need for the 10mm concealed in the suburbs like me but I always carry it when I go in the woods or hiking. Its just comforting to have that extra pop.
Re: Glock 27 carry for bigger size people???
Are the blisters from the size or from rough edges. Would a little work with sandpaper solve the problem?x007x wrote:Hello, I am looking for a Sub-compact carry, but 3/4 of the subs I shot. There's actually not much of a size difference and I think the bigger you are it's easier to carry the G23 or G19. Both of these will make better range guns as well as EDC with the right holster. Holsters - a lot of people focus too much on the gun and not enough details on getting the right holster that fits them with their gun.

Each time I fired the guns it would rub against my index finger wrong. It was becoming an irritation.

I admit I do take an exacto/razor knife and fine fine sandpaper to most any gun to "fluff and buff" do my own smoothing where plastic molded seams etc might rub ... but some like a Walther PPK/s the slide bites some hands,. and a Keltec PF9 the squared rear beaver tail bumps my thumb bone uncomfortably. so some just won't work for certain people easilyx007x wrote:Each time I fired the guns it would rub against my index finger wrong. Disclaimer : standard common sense ... unload the thing if you are whittling/sanding on it.. mag removed and empty the chamber after mag removal

I have a good friend who is a competitive shooter and lives on the East coast. He shoots mostly Glock’s and 1911's. When the S&W M&P first came out he really tried to use them in competition but they pinched his index finger.x007x wrote:Each time I fired the guns it would rub against my index finger wrong. Every Glock that I have, 4 at last count, does the same to me. After 50 or so rounds from my 23 the tip of my index finger has a blood blister on it.
For me, the M&P does just the opposite and I have a very large hand. The trigger is different and fits me like it was custom made for my hand shape. Give the M&P compact a serious looks. In my experience it is as reliable as a Glock and does not pinch a large hand. They are about the same size as the Glock 19 or 23. OK, the M&P is a little smaller than the Glock.
You can even get one in 45ACP!
Re: Glock 27 carry for bigger size people???
Also, I am left-handed. So it needs to be ambidextrous for me, or to have the mag released on the left side.
