FAST Electronic Fingureprints Question

Post by LuckyTexan »

I'm a first time applicant. All materials are ready to mail except the FAST electronic fingureprints at L-1 enrollment. I'm scheduled to do that later this week. Will I need to include any paperwork from L-1 Enrollment in the envelope that I mail to the DPS in Austin? Or does L-1 enrollment company take care of everything having to do with fingureprints?
Below is your checklist of required supporting documentation:
check Checklist (or your confirmation email containing the transaction barcode)
Electronic fingerprints submitted using FAST
check CHL-6 Form (Photo Holder/ID Signature)
check 2 passport photos
check CHL-100 Training Form (received from CHL instructor upon course completion)

Thank you!

The fingerprints will be taken care of for you. There is nothing you need to send in for that. You still need to send the rest of your packet but the fingerprints are all good.

Also, unless the center is busy it will take less than 5-minutes start to finish.

When you signed up for fingerprinting online, you should have gotten a "FAST Pass." Print it and bring it to the fp center with you. The tech will sign it and that's your proof that you've completed this step. Mail the signed FAST Pass with the rest of the materials (btw, make copies of everything you send). That's how my instructor told us to do in class.

Good luck.

Just got mine done in June that wasn't needed. I kept the signed sheet. When you signed-up for the fingerprints you had to provide your info along with the fact that it was for a CHL. DPS will get your info just fine when they go looking.

The location I went to had a pad of the receipt forms similar to the one I printed out (except not individualized). The guy who took my prints was going to use the generic form until he saw that I had one printed out. I mailed it in with my application although I don't know if that was required.

The FAST pass is your receipt that you were fingerprinted. The technician signs it and you KEEP it. Do NOT send it in to DPS. if something happens, and DPS does not receive your prints, or you have to be printed again, you will need the TCN number on it.

I don't know if I'm crazy but while checking my status, I swear I never saw this notice at the top of the page until today.
"Notice: Effective March 1, 2011, all fingerprints for original Concealed Handgun License Applications must be submitted through MorphoTrust USA (formerly L-1 Enrollment Services). (See Administrative Rule §6.12)"

March 2011? is FAST different than MorphoTrust?

FAST, L-1, SAFRAN, and MorphoTrust are all one in the same. Confusing, huh? :confused5

I did not need to mail in FASTpass form from "FAST, L-1, SAFRAN, and MorphoTrust" to the DPS.

You should try it on from a techs position. In the 2 years we have been providing the service they have changed ownership 3 times. The FAST Pass is nice if you bring it but we have blank ones at all the sites and can help you out there. If you did not pay online with a credit card you will need to bring a personal check, cashiers check or money order. Almost all the sites do not accept cash or credit cards. The FAST form does not go to DPS, it is your receipt only. The prints are sent to DPS electronically by the site.

First off, welcome to the forum. :tiphat:

You now have the option to let them use your existing Texas drivers license photo on your CHL. You should have received a CHL-6 form with your paperwork. You can just write 'Use Existing DL Photo' on the top of that. If you want different photos, then you submit passport photos.

dw,

Just go to the DPS website and get to the CHL section. Click on the download forms button on the left side. The CHL6 will be there. Fill it out and just write "Please use my DL photo" somewhere around the picture in the middle of the page. you will be fine.
