Say hi to my new Bushmaster .308 ORC

Post by johncanfield »

To celebrate Glorious Leader's re-election, I stopped by the gun department of a local variety store in the Hill Country to pick up one of those no good military use only deadly semi-auto tactical they-should-be-banned ARs :nono: .

It was slim-pickings. Two AR carbines in 5.56 (or was it .223), an FNAR, and the Bushmaster in .308. I really loved the FNAR  but holy cow that dude was heavy. One of the uses for my new AR-type weapon was to be for hog hunting and I just couldn't see myself hauling the FN around for a couple of miles, maybe 25 years ago that would have worked, but not now. The Bushmaster was way lighter than the FN and even though it won't have the accuracy of the FN, it will be plenty good enough.

Apparently this Bushmaster has quite a kick, so I need to find a good recoil pad.

My wife bought me an ORC about two years ago and I love mine. Shoots tight groups and I have taken a few hogs with it. I changed it up a bit with the following.

Troy MRF 13.8 Battle Rail
Magpul MIAD Grip
Magpul MOE Trigger Guard
Magpul MBUS Flip Up Sights
Magpul P-Mag
Magpul Rail Sling Adapter
YHM QD Flash Hider
Troy Lo-Pro gas block
Magpul UBR Stock

Kimber - glad I have some new opportunities to stimulate the economy while I trick up the Bushmaster

gigag - thanks partner! I'll get dear wife to shoot the Bushmaster at least once, hopefully more than one time.
Just ordered 200 rounds of Hornady match ammo from SGammo.

Glad you were able to find something you liked. It looks like it's going to be rough for a while again. I've got a small stockpile of ammo, but I'll always keep an eye out. I'm really glad I picked up my M4 and shotgun earlier this year. The only thing I'm thinking about now is a .22LR handgun that my daughter can shoot, but that will have to wait until next year.
