Obama disagrees with you.
And he has proved it with the Kyoto Treaty. It was not signed by the US and was never ratified by the Senate. It is being implemented by executive fiat through the EPA.
The next 4 years are gonna suck, no matter how you slice it.
Much more long lasting than 4 (more) years.....
Yes, with two supreme court justice appointments, and resulting case law precedents, the ramifications will last a very long time.

I think the only thing that might save us on that is the fact that the senate is supposed to ratify it and even if Obama is not worried about re-election a bunch of them are. Obama hid his anti-second amendment agenda really well. These guys can't do so as easily. They know that to do anything of the sort would be a kiss of death politically, to the point where most of them crow to the cows how very much they love their own gunslinger would never ever do anything to harm gun rights.

This may be a little off topic but related nonetheless. I was in my local gun shop today. I had been telling myself I was going to go get a new 9mm subcompact to carry. I started looking for the gun online and about could not find it in stock anywhere so I stopped by a local shop here. The guy that was helping me said their supplier of AR's in Dallas sold out of their entire stock of AR's in 17 hours yesterday. That stock was worth over $10mil. The gun I bought was the last of their stock and they have no idea when they are going to be getting anymore in. He also mentioned they were rapidly selling the canisters of 1000 round ammo in all calibers. He said today they had been selling guns left an right all day.
I think the people are quietly showing their displeasure at the idea of gun control. If that treaty gets close to passing, I think America might get ugly. But then again I was dead wrong about the elections so you never know.

I went by Academy yesterday (Wednesday) and there was NO One at the gun counter. They had a whole rack of AR type rifles and lots of ammo. That might have changed today.

A friend of mine went by Cheaper than Dirt FW and mentioned that the wall of guns was about 75% EMPTY. Anyone else see that?

My Academy was very busy. I was there about 15 minutes and saw sold another walk in that was going to buy whatever they put in front of her.

Heck, I almost walked out with a nice S&W 686 Plus but I really can't quite justify a full size revolver... Yet...

Saw a headline this morning about a spike in Texas gun sales. But couldn't find an actual article. It's kind of expected I think.
