1911 Tomorrow!
Well, my 1911 delimma will be over tomorrow. I was checking around and stopped in a gun store that I rarely visit just to kill some time. They had the largest selection of 1911's that I have found in town. I have always wanted one, but one as close to the Army Issue as possible. I decided on the Springfield and found a few at around $400-$500. Even have the U.S. insignia on the handle. I have checked every gun store in town, and this is the best deal with largest selection. If everything goes as planned, I will be cleaning large amounts of carbon off it tomorrow night! I am trying to decide on the standard, or one with adjustable rear sites.

If it's a defensive pistol, stick with standard sights.DSARGE wrote: I am trying to decide on the standard, or one with adjustable rear sites.
GUESS WHAT I GOT!?!?
I was fortunate enough to get a new Springfield GI .45 ACP--It is parkerized, with the U.S. Insignia. Haven't had a chance to shoot it, but it feels great in my hands and is a solid chunk of metal. I was worried about the size/weight in concealed carry, but it is alot slimmer than my Glock and this makes up for the length. I love the weight, but it is not uncomfortable. I took the dogs for a walk and wore it in a belly band. I am going to have to wear more than just a t-shirt as the grip prints a little. It came with a OWB holster that I am going to try tomorrow at church under a sport coat. How do ya'll 1911 vets recommend carrying? I carry with a round in the chamber/hammer back/safety on--does anyone carry differently? Got home and switched to my .357 snubbie-- feels like I am naked!! Well, gotta watch Band of Brothers, We were Soldiers, or some WWII movie with alot of 1911 footage.

Finally got some rounds downrange!! I went out today and killed some paper. That 1911 shoots like a dream. It is sooo smooth and you can just feel the mechanics working (reminds me of the mechanics of the M-14). Best of all, I took it apart, cleaned it, and put it back together successfully on the first disassemble/assembly!! Love it and can't believe the accuracy. Fired a ton of handguns, and carried an M-9 all over the world--the 1911 is the best I've shot so far. I got the lower end model--couldn't imagine one of those $1000+ Kimbers!

Yep, and you're just getting started. I carried the M-9 also, and the m-15 before it. When I got to the cockpit, either went to the bottom of my helmet bag and my Series 70 Colt went into my vest. Either nobody noticed, or cared. I've had that Colt for over 30 years for good reason. Now, I have three other 1911s in my safe too!
