this may be a noob question, but do those AR mags work with 5.56 as well?

they should, 5.56 cases and bullets are of identical exterior dimensions, the main differences being thickness, bullets, and load pressure.

Yes, they work for both. I just put .223 I could have put on there 5.56 instead. Technically speaking though, they are a little different in the neck dimensions.
