Cheap Holsters
Here is a vid of a Fobus Paddle holster being removed from a gun carrier.
You spent good money on a quality firearm, CHL course and training, don't buy a cheap holster.

That sure illustrates an important point. Thanks for posting this. I think that my BH Serpa would be much more difficult to remove. Heck, it's hard for me to remove and it's connected to the paddle by screws since that part is interchangable with the belt loops attachement.
It also illustrates the the need for retention drills. Had he slammed his hand down hard on the grip of his pistol he might have averted the snatch, but not the to credit of the holster. In fact it may have just come apart anyway.

He did the proper retention drill. The attacker used the gun owners energy plus his own to continue pushing down, breakng the holster.ScubaSigGuy wrote:That sure illustrates an important point. It wasn't very forceful is all I'm saying. And I understand that he didn't want to hurt his buddy. It was a good illustration.
FWIW I was taught to slam down on the grip hard and take a step forward with my right foot (if your holster is on the right side) turning away at the same time.

I have never agreed with you more. In the case of holsters....you get what you pay for.txinvestigator wrote:You spent good money on a quality firearm, CHL course and training, don't buy a cheap holster.

First year I was at FS, I used the Fobus holster for my 1911. Boy, was that a mistake! The plastic is cheap and the amount of retention is so inconsistent, I got really frustrated with it. Sometimes it will slide out like butter, but you will never know when your gun will get stuck in your holster the next minute. As a result, I've been using Comp-Tac product ever since, and never look back. It is what I called money well spent.

Two really good Kydex holster makers.
Comp-Tac
Blade-Tech
I have a couple of Comp-Tac & there is a review of them on the board that is about 6 mo old.
They are both excellent quality.
HighVelocity uses Blad-Tech.
Both are in the sticky holster list.

Hey, I was at PSC twice this weekend!!! I just got my Glock 23 in from my pops in Pittsburgh. Anyways, you'd have to have some insane holsters for me to switch! Although I am planning to buy a Kangaroo holster for concealed carry under dress shirt.jbirds1210 wrote:We need to meet up and shoot......I betcha I have some holsters that you would find irresistable!TheRising wrote:Hahaha, that's a great video. Yeah HighVelocity has been fillin me in on the Blade-tech. I was about to get their $45 combo deal. I changed my mind after the video and will be going with the $65 paddle. Still going to get the $17 double mag pouch.longtooth wrote:Two really good Kydex holster makers.

Thinkin Paddle just incase I need to remove it I wont have to undue my belt.
And about Black-hawk holsters. I looked at those but Dont like the push button release on them. As for the susceptibility for this to happen I wouldn't know.

Blackhawk and Fobus are brand names. IMO, the Blackhawk is superior.TheRising wrote:What about a BlackHawk fobus? Any idea if they're susceptible to something like this?? I have one for my G17 that has both paddle and belt configurations. It's good for range wear or all out mayhem on the streets...not too good for concealed though.
