Post by Carry-a-Kimber »

Mako Group has steel Israeli AR15 30 round mags available for $18.70. I have plenty, just thought I would pass it on.

Coupon codes ( taken from another site)

FB = 5% off
FREE-GRND =. Free shipping if order is $99.01 or greater.

I haven't tried to order yet, but I tried the Coupon codes and they work (only get to use one).

Going to try and place an order in a moment, will keep you posted.

UPDATE

Just placed an order on 3 mags, and received email confirmation. Will let you know if I get any delays in processing.

I ordered some mags on 12/24 and received this statement in an email on 12/28:

"We would like to reassure our customers with the following information:

Magazines are in stock and shipping daily.
If you have ordered magazines, your order is already covered by magazines we have. It may take us a few days to get your order out, simply due to the volume of orders we have received (we are averaging more than an order per minute just on our website for magazines. This does not count phone and dealer/distributor orders).
If you ordered magazines, the actual magazines have already been allocated to your order.

Large magazine shipments are leaving Israel at least every other day.
If you plan to order magazines, we do not foresee a shortage of E-Lander magazines. If you do order magazines, you can be assured that it will not be a backorder - we will have magazines in stock to cover your order.

Production at the factory has been increased and the factory is now running around the clock to meet demand for magazines in the US and they have assured us that they have the capacity to meet demand.

Order fulfillment is speeding up.
We are hiring personnel to double the size of our shipping staff, and everyone in our main office is joining the effort to pack and ship magazine orders, including our CEO!"

Haven't heard anything since.

I read a thread where a rep from the company posted pics of pallet racks full of mags. Stated they were shipping as many as 4000 mags a day and all orders would be filled. They quit answering the phone so all hands on deck can assist in handling orders. They have the potential to make alot of loyal customers... or a PR mess they will never recover from. I think they will come through. My order is in on 12-30-12.

New message on website:

"30 round E-Lander magazines are IN STOCK and we are receiving large shipments several times each week. Due to the large number of orders we are receiving on this product, we estimate orders will ship within 10 business days. These magazines are NOT backordered."

I received my order this morning. I placed it on Christmas Eve, so it took, what, 10 days or so? Not too bad, since they come from New York.

I opened one of the packages. I have to say that these are far and away the best made metallic magazines I've personally handled. I still don't know if I would treat them like a PMAG, but they seem very solid. They are well coated in a slightly glossy black coating of some kind. The followers don't seem to bind up, and the floorplates are removable, hence they are rebuildable. Mako sells replacement followers, but I didn't see any mention of replacement floorplates or springs. OTH, the followers are the only nonmetallic parts, so maybe they don't think the other components will fail.

Anyway, I'm anxious to try them out, but until the buying frenzy eases up a bit, I don't want to burn through any of the ammo I have on hand. So I will probably not take them to the range until then.

Today I received the Israeli E-Lander mags I ordered. As far as construction they are very similar to the CProducts aluminum mags, just a tad heavier. Some subtle differences I noticed though.

~ The finish on these mags is superb. It's almost a gloss finish and seems pretty thick. I can see why they exceed the salt spray test.

~ They fit in the mag well very good and fall free when released.

~ Unlike the CProducts mag there is a spring loaded detent in the floor plate that is pushed through the floor plate to slide it off.

~ The follower is a Bright white and the contrast with the mags black finish is very visually helpful. It seems to me it is a better quality follower than the CProducts.

~ I've seen the Cproducts aluminum mags sell for 8 - 12 dollars in the past. So I think 18.70 for the E-Lander mags is not too bad since it is a superior quality mag.

Although I'm still glad I got 10 Pmags for a 100 bucks 2 months ago. All in all it's not a bad deal these days I suppose, and it only took about 10 -12 days to get them.

Your mileage may vary.

After seeing the ridiculous CDR mag price I went ahead and ordered 5 of these, $106 delivered, not too bad really. Doesn't hurt to have extras right?! I have backordered some pmags through Brownells and midway a couple weeks back but don't want to rely on those as I have heard nothing on them.
