Head for the hills! Really? They talk like no one can stop it and there is no return? Is there anyone in charge here? Ever heard of making something retroactive? This is about the final straw why, for 2013, I plan to listen to less and less talk radio or TV. If I need more drama, I'll just call one of my kids or the ex up.

Why don't they shut down the government. That'll save a ton of dough, and they never do anything anyway except sit around dreaming up idiotic regulations and ways to either get credit or shift the blame.

It's not the fall that kills... It's the sudden stop... The g forces acting on internals tend to force them against other parts of the inside of the body causing massive internal hemorrhages... The aspect that irritates me the most is that everyone in Congress has been aware of this deadline for 2 years and they still refuse to take the necessary actions to resolve it. They ALL ignored it, because they don't want to do anything that might cost them votes down the road, and especially before the November elections. All of the members of Congress are well aware that there is no way to reduce deficit spending without cutting programs, but they don't want to cut any that garners votes for them. If you have fixed overhead in a business, the first thing you MUST do is figure out how much revenue you have to generate to cover your fixed expense...at this time the Federal Government has fixed expenses that exceed the total tax revenue, and has for years. They cannot raise taxes enough to cover the fixed expenses as it now exists...not without a revolt...so they HAVE to make some cuts in the bloated budget. They KNOW that, and they don't want to do it, and each side keeps blaming the other for the problem, and neither of them is willing to stand up and take the heat.

It's taken a bit of "seasoning" for me to come to terms with the idea of mandated term limits for all elected officials. My idealistic view had always been that the voters would see to it that no politician stayed in office longer than their "usefulness". In a way, that was/is true. It took me most of my lifetime to actually recognize that their 30-40 years of "usefulness" wasn't necessarily for the benefit of the entire country, rather it being for a relatively tiny group of individuals in a singly voting district that were always bought out by the self serving politician. As long as these people can stay in office indefinately, racking up "retirement points" (and some building up their fortunes by less than honest ways), we will never have honest representation or a properly managed government.

These clowns in Congress should all be gainfully employed on their own and do their business in Washington in a couple of months out of each year, and be paid their congressional wages accordingly. I do not like lifelong professional politicians, neither do I think the founders of this country ever perceived it being run by such characters. If they can't handle the "business" of the country in a month or two, once or twice a year, they have created too much business of the country.

This struck me as funny yet nauseating, I'm currently overseas so all that is available to me is the CNN (Communist News Network). A few days ago they went into this whole segment on how it was the Republicans that caused this crisis, and that their refusal to agree on anything only further propagated the issues and that it went all the way to Bush. Good Lord, I love media bias.

The elected or appointed to the House of Representatives or Senate may serve their people no more than 2 consecutive terms without a 1 term break. Congress shall make no law that effects the People and exempts themselves. Congress shall make no law that effects the House, Senate, or any other branch of the government and exempts the People.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the last-minute fiscal cliff deal reached by congressional leaders and President Barack Obama cuts only $15 billion in spending while increasing tax revenues by $620 billion—a 41:1 ratio of tax increases to spending cuts.
