Trades Pending - PLEASE CLOSE AD - THANKS

Post by QB »

I am working TWO trades so I'm going to close this ad. Thanks for all your responses.

I have the below ammo available for sale or trade (prefer a trade). Reason: I need .223 ammo rather than 5.56 ammo. I am borrowing a rifle from my brother in law and he won't let me use it unless I shoot .223 ammo. His rifle is not chambered for 5.56mm ammo and that's all I have.

Federal XM193F 5.56mm M193 Ball (Brown Box)
$449.50 per 500 rounds/25boxes
Four sets of 500 rounds available (I have a total of 2000 rounds).

This price is based on Ammunition To Go (out of Brenham) whose website indicates they have it in stock for 89.90 per 100 rounds. You'd save shipping and sales tax (if there is any on ammo, not sure). If someone has it for sale for less LOCALLY please let me know who and I'll give them a call and then try to beat their price.

5.56mm (62) FMJ M855 PENETRATOR (green tip). Winchester.
$230 for 380 rounds/19 boxes

I can meet face to face in the Carrollton area (that's a north suburb of Dallas).

I'll work the sales in the order that I receive EMAILS..........so please email me if you are interested.

Yes, I will also consider trades for NIB ammo such as .223 PMC Bronze 55 gr or something similar.

Below is a picture of the brown box federal and the M855 Penetrator ammo.

Just curious..... why can't you use the 5.56 ammo?

Higher pressure round. You can shoot .223 in a rifle designed for 5.56, but not vice a versa.

Understood, by why did he buy 2,380 rounds of ammo he can't shoot? The reason I'm asking is because I wonder if he has an AR that says ".223" on the receiver. Because if that's the case, there is a high probability that the rifle is stamped 5.56 on the barrel, and then he doesn't need to sell the ammo. That's what I was getting at.

The .223 ammo is for a rifle I am borrowing from my brother in law. I have all 5.56mm ammo because I use it for my Stag AR15 which is chambered for 5.56mm.

The rifle I am going to borrow is a Howa M1500 .223 Compact (20" barrel/bolt action with scope). My BIL wants me only to use .223 since that's what the barrel is chambered for. He basically provided me with the reason "Because the .223 Remington chamber has a shorter and sharper angled leade compared to the 5.56mm chamber as well as a shorter effective free-bore, the bullet engages the rifling sooner in the .223 chamber than it would have in a 5.56mm chamber. This causes the pressure to rise faster, peak sooner and reach a higher (and per SAAMI, unsafe) level than it would have if the round had been fired from a 5.56mm chamber." He doesn't want me to ruin his rifle and since I am borrowing it, I need to use the type of ammo he wants me to use.

Since all my rifles are chambered for 5.56mm I never gave it any thought and always bought 5.56mm ammo.

I have, shall we say, more than enough Federal 5.56mm ammo to last my lifetime....so I thought I'd sell some to fund the .223 ammo. I only plan on shooting around 2000 rounds or so at this time using the Howa. So I chose to sell/trade 2000 rounds of Federal and the 380 rounds of M855 ammo (that's all of the M855 ammo I have).

If I have to I'll just buy the .223 ammo outright. Of course my dear BIL won't let loose any of his .223 ammo (I guess I wouldn't either  ).

Oh, I see what you meant. Sorry, yes, it's because his rifle is chambered for .223 and he doesn't want me using my 5.56mm (which is what I use for MY rifles which are all chambered for 5.56mm). I have so much ammo that I was going to sell/trade some and not have buy yet more ammo....I'm sort of ammo poor

When do you need to do this trade by? I've got SOME PMC Bronze .223, but its stacked in one of my ammo cans, and I'll admit I haven't labeled things all that well. I'd like to do an even trade for some of the Federal XM193, my AR likes that stuff pretty well. I'll PM you when I get it out and verify how much I have and we can see if you're still looking to do so.

I'm in no rush, just sometime in the next few weeks if possible. I know I am asking the going rate for the ammo (which, yes, is inflated) but I am also paying the going rate. I don't have to sell the ammo, just thought someone locally might need some, even at the going rate. They'd save shipping at least.

So sure, a swap would be great, just let me know what you have and what you'd like to propose.

Thanks

Just wanted to add that I did the ammo swap with QB today. Worked out well to each of our satisfaction. Thank you, QB. Have a good time at the range.
