For those who may not be able to link to the OPs target, and because Governor Perry's comment is in the public domain (abridged):
Gov. Rick Perry released the following statement regarding President Obama's executive actions:

"The Vice President's committee was appointed in response to the tragedy at Newtown, but very few of his recommendations have anything to do with what happened there.

"Guns require a finger to pull the trigger. The sad young man who did that in Newtown was clearly haunted by demons and no gun law could have saved the children in Sandy Hook Elementary from his terror.

"As a free people, let us choose what kind of people we will be. Laws, the only redoubt of secularism, will not suffice. Let us all return to our places of worship and pray for help. Above all, let us pray for our children.

"The piling on by the political left, and their cohorts in the media, to use the massacre of little children to advance a pre-existing political agenda that would not have saved those children, disgusts me, personally. The second amendment to the Constitution is a basic right of free people and cannot be nor will it be abridged by the executive power of this or any other president."
Thank you, Governor Perry.

If some of you didn't get the intent of my post... I like Rick Perry. I would vote for him again as Governor or President. I just think that he sucks at public speaking and I don't agree with him on some issues.

Just wanted to get that off my chest.

Thank you for the link. Short note of appreciation sent to the Governor for his solid stand in defense of our Second Amendment rights. :thumbs2:

sent him this:
Gov. Perry,

I wanted to express my gratitude for your unwavering and outspoken support of the Second amendment. I have not always agreed with some of your stances, but your agressive support of Texans' right to keep and bear arms has gotten me "off the fence" and I intend to support you should you seek another term in office.

It is too bad that the liberals refuse to go after the cause of the shootings (mental health) and just focus on the tools these nut jobs use to commit their horrible crimes. If they didn't have access to a gun, they would use something else and the liberals just can't see that.

Bravo to our governor for speaking the truth.

Actually we are the "Blue States" as in "True Blue". The others are really the "Red States" as in "Lousy Commies" or "The Reds".
