FFL C&R Question

If you have a C&R are you limited to purchases of firearms that fall into that catagory. There are a few milsurp rifles I'm interested in but do not fall into the C&R list? what about new firearms?

I've had a type 03 C&R for six years. You can only buy those weapons classified as curios and relics. If they don't fall under that classification then you will have to purchase them as you would any other firearm. The up side is if the weapon does fall under the C&R classification the dealer can mail it directly to you.

Find an FFL in your area that will do reasonably priced transfers.

Then when shopping for C&R's and you find something you want, it isn't much trouble to go ahead and buy it.

There have been threads about FFL's to do transfers, but I don't recall seeing any mentioned around Texas City. I think you've got about three LGS's there. Might be worth it to talk to them.

I'm not wooried about getting a transfer. I know several FFL's. I was just trying to decide if a C&R was worth getting. Thanks for the replies. I'm not going to bother with it.

How much do you buy from Midway?

I figure my discounts offset the license fee in the first month.

Unless specifically listed, any firearm that is over 50 years from date of manufacture is eligible.

x2 - the $30 (3 year license!) investment has saved me over $300 in the past 12 months! Discounts from Midway, Brownells, Wideners (and more) plus access to some pretty nice C&R firearms delivered to the house. Well worth the (minor) hassle of filling out the paperwork and keeping a log book on purchases.
I'd do it again in a minute.
