Re: I have to sell, could not keep my SIG M400 Enhanced ODG.
This is really bad news. And I wish I could help.

I stand corrected then. The way I understood it, was that only the original optics would come with it. Again, I stand corrected and apologize for mocking. The silver lining is that you did an excellent job of breaking the price down. Someone who may have passed may buy it now.The Annoyed Man wrote:With a Leupold 4-12x40 Firedot scope AND mount attached? Not even Walmart can do that for $1099. I "chatted" by PM with Beiruty. The $2,500 he is asking is what he actually paid for the rifle and scope combination, tax included and rounded to the nearest $100.Shinesintx wrote:Nice gun...I will offer you $1099 for it. If you choose to decline, I guess I'll just buy one at Walmart.
With Zero rounds down the tube, it is still a "NIB" rig. Did he overpay? By December 1st pricing, yes he did. Not so much by February 10th pricing. The market is what it is. It may not be worth that much to you, but if you want one today, that's pretty much what you're going to pay for it. MRSP for the rifle alone is $1,234.00, per the Sig website. MSRP for the scope alone is $789.99. Allow $75.00 for the Burris AR P.E.P.R. scope mount, and that is a total of $2,099.00. The Cabela's salesman told him they were selling this rig for 15% over MSRP. That's $2,413.85. Add 8.25% sales tax, and you've got $2,613. Beiruty said that his buy price for the package, tax included, was just under $2,500, and he just rounded the price to the nearest $100 for his sell price. I call that difference a fee for his time and money.
It was an awful lot of money to pay for what is a very nice rifle, but which is overpriced only because of current market forces which are completely beyond any of our control. It is unreasonably to expect him to take a 66% bath on it, when you simply will not find this rifle/scope package anywhere else for any less money if you want one right now, and simply must have one. I think Beiruty will laugh along with me when I say that he really did simply have to have one today........but his wife did not. That's his misfortune. I'm not willing to pay that for what he's offering, but neither am I going to mock him for trying to get his money back. That's unnecessary.

TAM,
Thanks for watching my back when I was away with family duty on the weekend. The weekend is the family time and I would not let lose it for whatever reason, save the monthly Personal Protection Match at Dallas Pistol Club. I did great yesterday at said match and I love my new UAE Caracal the most. the best pistol with best trigger among all my non-1911 9mm pistol. It is like a 3rd redesign of the Glock.
The designer of the Glock, did the Styer M1 and now the Caracal. Sweet shooter, smallest group I had with any pistol and 0 Failures.

Re: I have to sell, could not keep my SIG M400 Enhanced ODG.
IMHO, there is another major consideration here. Some folks seem to think prices will come back down like times in the past. A very real difference this time is that the Obama team has the football and is moving it toward the end zone. The last panic situation, four years ago, was based on speculation of what Obama "might" do. This time he is doing it.
I own a few "fun guns" that I could sell right fast for a very nice profit. The only reason I am not doing it is that I am VERY worried about the availability or even legality of buying them back a year from now.
The price being asked here is very fair for the market conditions. "Fun guns" are flying off the shelves at any price being asked. Good luck finding one at a retailer. Look up a few that are available on gunbroker. You will be very surprised by what you find.
I think some of us may be under estimating the threat from our government at this point. JMHO... Based on living through several of these situations and knowing the difference in a real threat and a percieved threat. This one is real. It has all the same ingredients of the expired "assualt weapons ban". If you want to own one of these, you better get it while the getting is good.

Re: I have to sell, could not keep my SIG M400 Enhanced ODG.
That may not be a bad idea. As I mentioned, Beiruty was told by the Cabela's salesperson that they were charging a 15% premium above and beyond MSRP. I used MSRP on the scope because I didn't know what their price was for the scope alone offhand, and I was trying to get the post done without too much more research. I got the $75 price for the mount from SWFA.cyphur wrote:Gunbroker sees these rifles going for $1500 on a regular basis right now, some are bidding up to an north of $1700. The scope can be had for $650. $75 mount, plus shipping on most of that, and you are more or less encroaching on $2300(you hit nearly the full $2500 when the rifle is $1700).
I wish the OP the best of luck, but I think his best bet is putting this on GunBroker as there is likely someone who would love to get all of this all in one package and willing to pay what I call the "convenience fee" baked into the price.
He can put it on Gunbroker with a reserve price, and that will guarantee that he won't lose money if he sets the reserve high enough. OTH, he might have the same difficulty selling it there as he's having here. 03LightningRocks makes a real point, and it is something we ought to all be worried about. EBRs never came back down in price to their pre-1994 AWB prices. What used to sell for $400-$500 was selling before this recent panic for $700-$900. Even if the situation eases up and inventory becomes easily available again, those days are done, and ARs which used to sell for $700-$900 will be going for $1,000-$1,500. It is the new reality, whether or not we get a new AWB. Why? Because sellers now know that this is what the market will bear.

I like guns but I am a business man first and I can smell blood in the water. I was tempted to buy this weapon and hold it for the uptick like a good stock. My funds are limited this time of year. I can't play for now. Mark my words... Please!! These things are going much higher. Like it or not.The Annoyed Man wrote:He can put it on Gunbroker with a reserve price, and that will guarantee that he won't lose money if he sets the reserve high enough. Personally, I would list it on gun broker with a starting bid and wait. He could start it at 2700 and more than cover fees. Gun broker does not charge a re-listing fee like thief bay. You pay one listing fee and then a percentage of the sale. No matter how many times it is relisted.
I have no dog in this fight. I don't know the O.P. from Jack Daniels. My personality won't allow me to see silliness and just let it go. This weapon is worth far more than the selling price to a patient seller. Don't believe me? OK ... time will tell.

Ok ok I'll buy it, Beiruty, set me up a payment plan and I'll have this bad boy paid off in 250 months!

03Lightningrocks, I sure hope you're wrong, because if you're right I'll never own an AR-15. I PM'd beiruty when he first posted about it, but the price was far beyond my willingness to pay. I tried to buy a Colt for $1500, which was pushing it (but my wife agreed to it), but the buyer backed out. Now I'm stuck with hoping I can pick one up some day. The only reason I want one is because the government is thinking about telling me I can't own one, so I'm not willing to spend my life savings to buy one. (Figure of speech.) I could afford to buy beiruty's, I just don't want to spend that much money.
So I sincerely hope you're wrong.

I am with you baldeagle. I hope I am wrong too. I love my fun guns! The thought of the government attempting to take them from me is disconcerting to say the least. The rifles I am seeing on gun broker are not including those optics. That rifle is not a bad buy with the scope. Like TAM said, maybe it could have been bought 400 dollars cheaper six months ago. Times change, supply and demand rule the day.

On the weekend, and having great time with my family. My wife knew that I am offering the rifle for sale to keep the waters calm between us.
Somehow, I did mention that someone on the forum was making fun of my offered sale price and suggesting that I overpaid by $1500
Guess what she said? she said, "Honey, if you like the new rifle you can keep it"
Oh yeah, I was like
and
As of now, I am holding on the sale of this M400. I know coming April 15, the tax man is knocking on my door and each dollar that I do not spend, Mr. Tax would love to have. I just pray to the Almighty that I can manage my expenses like hawk between now and then.

Good for you Beiruty. However, I think you're still going to pay a little more for it.
