Edit: I have not put a value on the 642 because I did not know if I was going to be dealing with someone with inflated prices as of yet.

If I decide to sale the S&W 642 out right I will post a price here first and send you a PM.

They're inflated. I bought a 23 for 450 the other day FTF from someone I know. As of late, the 19 and 23 seem to be going for about 550. I am not a gun price expert, I just happen to view 4 or 5 different gun forums and have a feel for the FTF price. I have even seen people asking 600 for Glocks which is crazy. Saw a new one go for 525 here in TX on GT yesterday.

A few months ago, there were always great deals on this forum...now, everyone seems to be keeping what they have and not selling. Strange huh?

One last note, AR prices are starting to drop big time. A $1000 rifle was selling for $2500....which is now selling for $1500.

We are our worse enemy. It is no difference than than the thieves in the oil filed running gas prices up. I don't believe we should be taking advantage of others in a time of need. This is the time i feel we should pull together and help if we have the resources. Just my opinion.

I wish I had something that I wanted to get rid of that I could trade you for. At this time, I am holding on to just about everything. If you want sell the 642 outright, I'd really like to buy it for my dad...he wants it.

I will keep an eye out at several other sites. Maybe I can find what you are looking for, buy it, then trade with you. Howd that be?

Sounds good. I have had a couple of offers, but it is, "you pay retail and I pay wholesale." Some people are just mentally challenged.

Like I said earlier, prices are seemingly starting to normalize again...but sadly, quantity of firearms for sale FTF have not. I really believe that if you wait another month, most of this sillyness will subside...hopefully. Best of luck with getting a fair deal.

I agree with you. I think the prices will come down, but I do not believe they will go back to what they were. I guess a lot depends on what happens the next month or so in Washington.

Carlson,

I agree with you 100% on the price of guns these days and the inflated prices. Whenever I've sold a gun, I look at the 'new' price, then knock off from there what I think is both fair and will move the gun fast..... I do not believe in inflating the price for anyone.

We're in the process of selling our current home and buying another house here in Abilene. Since I use the VA home loan system, the VA appraisal price of the home we are looking at buying, versus the seller's asking price, is a major factor with the VA. If there is an upside down difference, I may be looking to sell a few guns to come up with extra funds.

I have a 'big brother - little brother' set of stainless Kimber TLE's that I'll sacrifice if I need additional funds for the new house. One is a pro with rail, the other is an ultra. Both have matching Kimber branded light grey Crimson Trace laser grips. Neither have ever been fired, except what was done at the factory for testing purposes.

I hope I don't have to sell the Kimbers, but if I do, I will try to sell them together as a pair and I will not try to rip anyone off like I have seen so much of lately. I just don't believe in doing that.

There might even be a WWII issue Underwood M-1 Carbine in mint condition up for sale also, everything depends on the figures on the new house.

Lots of folks here on the forum have purchased guns from me in the past, I hope my reputation speaks for itself and folks know I won't try to rip anyone off ! :thumbs2:

I'll vouch for Dave, stand up guy, lots of good stories. If you do wind up selling that Carbine, lord forbid, Dave please hit me up. I'll even meet you out and share another burger with ya! I just bought a house with a VA loan and thankfully did not cause any issues in closing on time. Of course, the house appraised right on the dot of asking price, despite "market" price should have been 10-15k higher. They are tightening their belts after the mess with the housing market for sure.
