Testing procedures

Post by pkgrif »

Thanks for answering my previous questions. So I waded in and took the CHL class and now am waiting for everything to process. But the class was a weird experience. Our instructor gave the test orally (no written questions) and stated that it was mandated by the state to given that way to see if we could follow instructions. Is this true?

I'm not an instructor, one will chime in, but this does not seem "normal" or correct.

That's a new one for me. If that happened to me, I would contact DPS with the instructor's name and instructor number (from the CHL-100) and get an official opinion. I would mention my partial hearing loss (true) as the reason for asking.

The instructor for my renewal class gave the test orally and said we were all required to participate. He said the state required everyone to take the test but didn't spell out how the test had to be administered.

Given the fact they have the written test on the instructor side of the DPS website, it appears they were saying this is how this is to be administered.

Oh, heck no!

Its on the instructor side of the website so STUDENTS can't get a copy before taking the class. This is the first I've ever heard of an oral CHL exam, and its simply WRONG!

The instructor need to be reported. Pronto.

I recall another CHL holder who posts on the forum saying they did their test as a group effort of the class.

:iagree:

If the OP comes back, please use the contact information provided earlier to notify DPS of the instructor's testing procedures so they can fix the problem.
