Guess who just got stopped by the poleece.

Post by txinvestigator »

I was driving with my daughter to her school for the open house. We turned left and cross in front of a two-man unit; female officer driving and her male partner. As usual I nod and give the thumbs up. She turns around and flips on the lights. I was :?: :?: :?:

I rolled both windows down, and had my CHL and DL ready when they walked up. I handed them to the officer and she introduced herself. She asked me if there was a reason I had allowed my inspection to expire. I was even more :confused5 I look at it again (thru the glass, backwards) and said, "doesn't it expire this month?" She said, "no, that is a 2 and not a 5."

She then asked if I was armed. (I was dressed, I was thinking ;-) ) "Yes ma'am, it is in the center console" She asked if it was loaded. :headscratch "It is most effective that way, yes ma'am" I said with a big ole grin. She smiled and nodded back, told me to wait a second and she would be right back. I offered my insurance, mostly to show her I AM responsible with my car, despite being dyslexic with the inspection sticker number.

She came back in under a minute, told me she was going to give me a verbal and asked, yes asked, me to please get it taken care of ASAP. I thank her for her courtesy and that was it.

No trunk tossing, no request to search, no antagonistic questions or intrusive requests.

Must have been my cool charm and good looks.

Couldn't have happened to a better guy :-) I do think a thumbs-up is asking for trouble though... :-(

People have been known to play chicken with our cops though :-)

I live North of Mckinney and do 75 -> 190 West daily. DPS has been doing commercial stops heavily for a while now, and Plano is Plano, pulling everyone over...

This was in Wylie. I always give our finest the thumbs up. I always get a wave back, and an occasional thumbs up.

She might have been with an FTO, but I could tell she had experience. (Wylie only hires certified officers)

Her officer safety was good, and her public relations were good too.

Seriously? Everyone? I have never been stopped there. Of course, I don't break traffic laws either. (OK, OK, Occasionally I can't read my inspection sticker)

Get off at Spring Valley and do more then 40 in front of the piano store just over the hill Southbound, motor units lying in wait. They have no mercy either...
