I took a job at TXDOT about four years ago and there was a big deal made at my (2 day

) orientation as to how it was not allowed under any circumstances and that if you knew of anybody who had a firearm with them or in their vehicle you were required to inform your supervisor immediately. I didn't even have my CHL yet though I'd been in the process of researching the laws in anticipation of getting it. Another newbie and I spent the next two breaks arguing with the instructor about how ridiculous the policy was, of course to no avail. Wasn't her fault, that stuff comes down from on high and there ain't nothing you were going to be able to do about it.
This was but one of many policies and other idiocy that I couldn't deal with, so I moved on to something else. TXDOT was the definition of train wreck. I hope for the state's sake the new regime is making long overdue improvements, but I digress.
