After a nice display of OWB concealment by LT, I've ordered a Galco Combat Master holster for the Hi-Power (http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterG3.asp?Pr ... 5&GunID=23). I'm also looking at a Don Hume Waistband Clip-On (http://www.donhume.com/Products/Product ... oductID=35) for when I can't do OWB. I'm also considering Fist's small of the back holster (http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/holster/40.htm) at hi-power's suggestion. I'm still looking for a shoulder rig that I feel would work well with this gun.
HadEmAll & mrvmax: where do you position your Hi-Power when carrying IWB?

I had never thought of this before and took a look at our Master Dealer Catalog to try to clear it up. As stated, Galco does not list a holster component for the HP in the catalog or on their website.
Normally, a Hi-Power uses the same holsters and components as a 1911 and I'd expect that to fit. Checking in the catalog shows that the expected 1911's and also Para Ordnance, with and without hammer spurs. That seems to indicate that the Browing would fit also.
I will do a trial fit and attempt to confirm or disprove this concept.

If I can find someone that has a good solution in stock, that would be great. I think the difference is length of the guns. Galco has sizing for 4 1/4" and 5" 1911 barrels, and the Hi-Power is 4 2/3". That difference may be why a Hi-Power won't fit.nemesis wrote:I had never thought of this before and took a look at our Master Dealer Catalog to try to clear it up. The supplier I ordered my Combat Master from said that Galco has a huge backorder for everything right now, and couldn't get me anything until late July - clearly not acceptable for me. This may explain why I've been waiting for a month now for a Classic Lite shoulder rig for my PA-63 (Walther PPK fit). Fortunately, he made a mistake on my Combat Master order, and thought I wanted the brown leather, instead of the black which he has in stock - so no wait on that one.
Got my Hi-Power today!
I'm still waiting on the Combat Master to come in, so I got a cheap Uncle Mike's IWB for the time being.
Got some Speer 124gr.+P Gold Dots for it, gonna test a box out and see how those feed through it.
This is my first new gun. I'm excited.
Reading through the manual, it says my mag capacity is 14 rounds. I wonder if this specific to the FM mags? I was under the impression that standard capacity for a Hi-Power mag is 13 rounds. I'll have to load it up later and see.
nemesis: any word on the fitting of a Hi-Power in a 1911 shoulder rig? Something that also may be important - this is an Argentine FM M-90 Hi-Power, and does not have the bevel at the end of the slide like the traditional FN Hi-Powers do.

Was FM a typo or do you have an FM Argentine HP? I ask because FM is a different HP manufacturer than FN, who makes the Browning.NcongruNt wrote:Reading through the manual, it says my mag capacity is 14 rounds. Edit: Nevermind, I reread the thread from the beginning and saw that it was a NIB Argentine HP.
Actually Browning factory mags should be 13rd, as are most aftermarket.
However, Mec-Gar makes a 15rd mag that uses a different follower to remain the same length as the 13rd.
I haven't used the 15rd mags yet, but I checked with Stephen Camp for his opinion before buying. According to Camp, they are very reliable.
I still believe your HP should fit any 5" 1911 holster.

So I loaded up the FM factory mag and it really does hold 14 rounds.Mike1951 wrote:Was FM a typo or do you have an FM Argentine HP? BTW, the FM is still a Browning, as FN licenses the design to FM - the Argentine Hi-Powers aren't just clones.
