Obtaining arrest history/record

Post by bluto »

I do not have my CHL yet. Here's the obligatory "When I was younger and much stupider..." preface. I was arrested in College Station in October of 2000 for Disorderly Conduct by way of language. CS cops broke up a very large party and as I was walking through the side gate from the backyard to the front I said aloud, "This ____ sucks", and next thing I know I'm up against the fence being handcuffed and taken to jail. While I disagreed and thought the punishment was a bit harsh, it was my fault nonetheless. I ended up pleading guilty or no contest. Can't remember. I need to get the exact information regarding this though. How do I do it?

Sometime in the summer of 2001, I was out for a friend's birthday in downtown Houston. About 20 minutes after arriving at the first bar of the night, someone must've thought it would be hilarious to slip something in my drink, i.e. drug me. I was still drinking my first drink when I suddenly went from normal to falling down and not being able to stand up or hold my head up. The bar staff saw me, and I guess their first thought was that I was drunk and needed to be kicked out. So a friend took me outside, and while I was sitting on the sidewalk, barely able to hold my head up, I decided to get belligerent. I made some unnecessary comments to a couple of HPD officers as they walked by, and they ended up taking me to jail for Public Intoxication (theme or coincidence...) I was so out of it that I must've just signed whatever in jail, because when I was bailed out they told me the ticket had been paid and there was nothing else I had to do. I don't remember any of this, and I don't even know where I was in jail. How do I go about getting the arrest record/report for that incident?

Both of these incidents happened over 10 years ago while I was in college, so hopefully they collectively will not keep me from getting my CHL. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

They don't sound like they will disqualify you but get a copy of your record and we can give better advice.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't very clear. I was asking how to get my arrest record (not sure if that's the right term) for both of these events.

I would start here.
Harris Co. http://www.hcdistrictclerk.com/Common/C ... rvice.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Brazos Co. http://justiceweb.co.brazos.tx.us/CrimS ... imfrmd.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Good luck.

For DPS you will have to get certified copies of the disposition of the case. You can order these from the county district clerk in both counties. While in Harris you can download certified copies, the DPS will not accept the download version, they want the page with the raised seal.
Good luck.

DPS told me I did NOT have to get a certified copy of my Juvenile record cause in order to get a certified copy I would have had to go through this...

-Get a lawyer and set a court date.

-Go before the judge and motion the court to release my Juvenile record to the DA office.

-Have the DA certify it for me.

I called DPS and asked if I really have to go through all that mess and they said no, they said get juvenile probation to write up a letter saying what I did and when I did it and what the outcome was. It took a week to get that cause they had to get a judge to release that info to me.
