Seguin Courthouse question
OK, as you enter said Courthouse there is a scanner metal detector, we needed to go to the immediate right to the county clerk. I'm not sure where the Courtrooms are, but it didn't look like they were even on that floor. I thought that you were suppose to be able to access clerks and such if they were in the same building? Why is it that Schertz can deal with this and the county can't and the Schertz building is a whole heck of alot smaller?

Re: Seguin Courthouse question
The law is somewhat ambiguous in what is banned. by saying the building or part of the building, it is not 100% clear on what is banned. Some places decide to interpret it as the part of the building used by the courts and others decide to interpret it as the whole building.
I tend to think the intent was to restrict as little as possible, but there is no rule saying this is true. Schertz may have decided to make as much available as possible. Seguin (well, technically Guadalupe County) has decided not to. I would say that anyplace that is willing to go to the expense to put up metal detectors is not interested in citizen's rights and would always choose to ban the largest area possible, but that is just my perception on it.

I agree, Guad didn't seem too worried about citizen's rights

I don't know any State laws that prohibit knives in courts or government offices, so when I get summoned for jury duty or have to go somewhere else with metal detectors, I conceal carry one of my non-ferrous Mad Dog knives.

When in doubt

non-ferrous? no iron, but it would still hit on the metal detector, wouldn't it?
they wouldn't let my niece carry her tiny 'leatherman' type tool. She had to run it back to the car, we'd parked just outside the door so it just took a minute, the lady wouldn't hold it for the 15 mins while we filed our DBA either. I'm telling you, they are not interested in helping out the citizen.
