CHL Application help
I applied online, I went and had my fingerprints and passport photos taken and I am talking the CHL class soon. My question is, do the fingerprints and photos get filed electronically through the Fast location? Because the only thing I received was a FAST form that I was told to keep forever. When I read the application requirements, it says to send all the items on the checklist together, but that's not possible if they do two of the requirements electronically. When I checked the status online, it only said that I had filled out the application. My fingerprints and photos were taken on March 19th, should they have received the fingerprints and photos by now?
Thank you
Thank you

Re: CHL Application help
Finger prints will go electronicly. You didn't need the photos as they can use the photo on your TX DL.

your doing fine, one thing i learned is a watched pot never boils.
They are taking up to a fortnight or longer to update their site and show that they received your packet , and the fingerprints (which are submitted by the fingerprint guy).

Thank you! Guess I paid for photos I didn't need! They didn't make it real clear how it all works.
Thanks for the help

Re: CHL Application help
When you applied online you shoulda got a email listing what you needed to submit - chl 100, prints, photo if needed. If you checked the box to use current dl photo (if not too old) they will probably use it.

Re: CHL Application help
I'm a little confused on your original post. You said you got your fingerprints AND photos done at the FAST location? The photo they take at the FAST location is not the same as the photos needed to get put on your CHL. You need to either get two "passport" photos from somewhere like Walgreens, CVS, etc. or as stated above use your current DL photo. But if you are expecting them to use the photo from the FAST location it will only delay your process. Unless you paid extra for them to send your photo for your application. This would be news to me if they offered this service.

FAST wuill also do the passport photos that you need to send in with your application. That is how I did mine. It is a separate photo from the one they do for the fingerprints.

Re: CHL Application help
Thank you for the clarification. I was unaware they provided that service. That would have saved me an extra trip elsewhere had I known.

Re: CHL Application help
I believe the way that the original post is worded she believes the photos taken would have been transmitted electronically with the fingerprints. That regular photo taken by L-1, Morpho Trust, or whoever they are today, is only so they can match up the fingerprint set with the photos that are sent or with your drivers license photo.
So, Brandywine, if that is the case and you didn't receive a printed out set from the fingerprint session to include with your paperwork, you will either be contacted by DPS to submit a set to them, or they will just automatically use your existing drivers license photo on your CHL.

It doesn't take long to figure out that the state and their websites lag well behind the law and any procedural changes made at DPS. Trust your instructor and the many here on the site, and you'll be fine.brandywine40 wrote:Thank you! Guess I paid for photos I didn't need! They didn't make it real clear how it all works.

Re: CHL Application help
STATUS UPDATE My packet arrived in Austin March 18 and was complete. My status still shows waiting on required paperwork. I called to check on April 10, 2013. After on hold for 45 minutes I finally got a live person. He told me not to worry that they have not even started on ANY March applications yet that it will be several more weeks. UGH....
