So I guess that peices of lead and copper are now implements of war.HI Canvasbck
We hit a snag with shipping into the united states. You will have to now fill out a Form 6 ( importation of firearms, ammunition and implements of war) in order for us to send you anything. Your government and ATF require this.
Feel free to call me if you want me to explain more to you or call your local ATF agent to help with paperwork. It can take up to 60 days for approval. You can also call the ATF – import branch at 304-616-4550

ATF restricting import of reloading components!
Due to the unavailablity of reloading supplies, our group has been bulk buying 180 grain bullets from Aim Projectiles in Canada. We made a 40K order a few weeks ago with no problems. Whe had hoped that it would get us until US manufacturers caught back up. We were wrong. We attempted to place a 60K order yesterday and got this reply:

Their words.
Seems pretty appropriate given the current state of affairs.
Since they make the rules they can enforce them.
You need to look at this in the light of common sense gun laws and reasonable restrictions.
Why would anyone need 60,000 bullets. You can kill a deer with one shot.

May not be long until it is that way across a state line. You know, Interstate Commerse Act.

Carry 24-7 or guess right.

State Department ITAR regulations covering these items have been in place for a long, long time. That is why someone needs the $2,250 ITAR license to be a bullet or ammunition manufacturer.
I despise the BATF-ers as much as most, but this really isn't new to this administration. Sounds more like a Canadian seller who was relatively new to cross-border demand coming from the US and someone slapped their hand for not doing things correctly.

Hmm. I wonder if that's why my holster parts form CSR Rescomp in South Africa have been stuck in customs since March 13. What sucks is Customs says they have no way to track the package. So I guess that means they just get to keep it.
Carry safe and carry when and where you can. I'm just sayin'.
Re: ATF restricting import of reloading components!
This make have been on the books for a while but the enforcement may be new. I used to shoot smallbore and air rifle silhouette up until a few years ago. One of our best sources for good pellets (made in Europe) was a place in Canada and we never had any issues with getting those shipped to us in large quantity (frequently ordered very large lots when buying in a group and I have ordered 10K more than a few time with no issues).
Are you going to fill out the paper work and wait?

Bullets aren't weapons/ammunition. Somebody is going overboard (not that that would surprise me)

Interesting... I think you're correct.OldCannon wrote:Bullets aren't weapons/ammunition. Somebody is going overboard (not that that would surprise me)

Further, the ATF Form 6 ( I filled out a 6 and PT II in 1987 when I came home from Germany with weapons I had bought there) has NO PLACE to list components of ammunition
http://www.atf.gov/files/forms/download ... 330-3a.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Some cursory searches turned up several ATF sites that do not describe individual components of ammunition as restricted (except smokeless powder), nor do they list ammunition components as restricted (except smokeless powder).. just "ammunition" and in another line "smokeless powder" nothing about cases or bullets.
May be in an administrative reg someplace that has definition for that law or statute that further defines ammunition.

We are challenging the atf via political and legal challenges. We are involving the NRA and our local congressman.Filling out the paperwork may be our easiest way to get the shipment but it would leave the roadblock in place for others.LTUME1978 wrote:This make have been on the books for a while but the enforcement may be new. On a related note, anyone have any leads on 147 grain plated bullets?

Re: ATF restricting import of reloading components!
So one of you more educated types want to explain why the government needs to know the unit cost of weapons you import? That seems completely unnecessary and overly intrusive to me. I can understand wanting the types, calibers, serial numbers, etc., but how much you paid for them? That's none of their dern business.
