That's pretty fast. How did you find out the issue date?

The January instructor newsletter from Utah said they were averaging 72 days. Guess you are right about in that timeframe.

Marty dropped off his application in person while in SLC in December. Still waiting...

Just under 90 days processing and mailing time from receipt of application in my case. So it seems the range is pretty broad (given the advertised average). It would be interesting to know what the dependencies are, particularly for applicants with "spotless" records, that cause such a wide variation in processing time. Perhaps just the luck of the draw?

Got mine today!! WOOT!!, now the wait didn't seem all that long. Still waiting for the wife's to go through, though.

Mailed Feb 7th
Billed CC on Feb 14th
Received on May 8th

Total of 89 days I believe. I'm wondering if mine will take less time than my wife's because I already had a Texas CHL? Guess we'll see.........

Class taken from llwatson on 11/19/06
Mailed on 2/20/07
Recieved (logged in) by the Utah office 3/14/07

I was told they are processing the packages recieved (logged in) on 2/7/07...

That was about 2 weeks ago...

The reason we waited to mail ours was we wanted to make sure ALL of our licenses need to be renewed in 2012 at generally the same time...

So I figure we'll see our Utah CHP's by mid to late June...

Our Texas CHL renewals should be in about the same time if not in early to mid July...

I'll need a fatter wallet!

what is the specific benefit of the Utah license, if you already have a Texas license? Is it honored in Cali, NY or Illinois???

Really, the whole process is cheaper to begin with. It's expiration date is 5yrs from date of issue, not your birthday. There's no qualification required and right now, it's only $10 to renew through the mail. It adds 3 states you can carry in to the Texas CHL but doesn't cover ALL the same ones Texas does. The class is only 4 hours and *ahem* the instructor was very good!

Utah adds 3 states to my current carry abilities having a Texas CHL:
Minnesota
Ohio
Washington

Utah permit does not include these states:
Kansas
Missouri
Pennsylvania
S. Carolina

States That Honor Your Utah Permit
ALASKA*
ALABAMA
ARKANSAS
ARIZONA
COLORADO
DELAWARE
FLORIDA
GEORGIA
IDAHO
INDIANA
KENTUCKY
LOUISIANA
MICHIGAN
MINNESOTA
MISSOURI
MISSISSIPPI
MONTANA
NORTH CAROLINA
NORTH DAKOTA
NEW HAMPSHIRE
NEW MEXICO
OHIO
OKLAHOMA
SOUTH DAKOTA
TENNESSEE
TEXAS
UTAH
VERMONT*
VIRGINIA
WASHINGTON
WYOMING
That's 31 states!!

I guess I was wrong to wait...

The Utah BCI office just informed us that they are not even processing out of state applications until they get caught up with the In-state folks...

They got our packages on 3/14/07...

They are not even to that date yet, and we been waiting for over 90 days already, and they won't apparently touch ours until the in-states are done...

But they did assure us that we'll be taken care of in about 6-8 months...

Which puts us into late August, November timeframe...

I really hope I am wrong on this...And I am not sure if we should be anything but glad we had the opportunity to apply for the permit...

And from what I was told (my wife was the one who made the call to Utah) the attitude was a bit crisp from the person taking the call...

Not sure why that would develop in this process...Maybe it was a Monday...Who knows??? ;-)

Hmmmm...........I took the class with Linda in December but didn't mail in the application until the first of March. I guess I needn't start looking for it until around Christmas?

Bummer.
