Self Defense Insurance endorsed by NRA

Post by sjfcontrol »

Just got a notice of an event during NRA Annual Meeting regarding "Second Call Defense" . They are apparently looking for recruiters.
Second Call Defense is the first and only organization in America that provides complete legal protection for armed self defense, including self defense insurance benefits backed by the NRA Endorsed Insurance Program
Not clear whether this is for NRA certified instructors, NRA members or the general public.

More can be found here http://www.secondcalldefense.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not seeing any NRA endorsment mentioned on their website. However, one of their lawyers is on the NRA Board of Directors. Maybe Chalre's can pipe in here?

6. All insurance coverage limits are shared and subject to the maximum listed policy amounts. Insurance policies are offered by and sold exclusively through Lockton Affinity, LLC. Second Call Defense is not offering for sale any insurance products. For more information on the terms and conditions of these products, contact Lockton Affinity

I do know that Lockton is endorsed. They are the ones that carry the coverage for firearm loss.

The link is for self-defense insurance, so apparently it is available separately from the Second Call Defense people.

Lockton is a good broker. However, I am very cautious when it comes to recommending shared limit master programs to my clients.

I think I know, but perhaps you could enlighten us as to what that means?

The email went out to all NRA instructors.

I signed up for the seminar. I have not been impressed with any of the other pre-paid insurance plans, but this one has NRA and Lockton associated with it, so I am willing to spend an hour of my time to hear about it.

I know the message w nt to instructors. But I gather the service is for any NRA member? I agree with your assessment and await your opinion after the seminar.

It means there is a master insurance policy issued to an organization or company with a limit of insurance that is the maximum that will be paid out under the policy. The organization then adds others to the policy as additional named insureds by establishing a contractual relationship, some times called a members. Then all the additional named insureds share the limit of insurance regardless of the number of additional insureds. Therefore, others could conceivably use the limit of insurance and leave no available limit for you. This is a very simplistic overview and it is actually more complicated but this should give you the idea.

I do not know if this is the type program being discussed here as being "NRA Endorsed". If it is, I would hope the program is very actuararily sound with appropriate safeguards in place.

As always, buyer beware.
