This should not be so "complicated"- unless you don't like the narrative.

Or other board members are happy to apply a saw to it while you're stepping out there.jmra wrote:Whenever I do that the limb tends to break.SherwoodForest wrote:I'm stepping out on the proverbial limb - and stating that I believe the FWPD is doing their best to suppress the fact that the victim of an armed robbery defended himself resulting in the death of the perp.

Props to the CHL for shooting center mass.
Here's to hoping he heals well.
And this event happened in the middle of the day! Stay aware, people!

This happened just north of my house about 5 miles. I drive past that spot several times a week. It's not a great part of town. It suffers from low income and drugs. From reports it sounds like the CHL holder has spent a lot more time on the range than the perp. Still, he is lucky to be alive. The perp could have had some buddies with him. In fact, I'm surprised he didn't in that area. Broad daylight is no indicator of safety.

So the news reporter doesn't know if the robber had a gun or another weapon but somehow the victim ended up getting shot twice. What do they think, the victim shot himself?

That possibility was brought up early on during the incident. He had a wrist wound and possibly got his other arm in front of the gun while trying to fend of the other guy.SQLGeek wrote:So the news reporter doesn't know if the robber had a gun or another weapon but somehow the victim ended up getting shot twice. I was wondering if the final story was that the bad guy fired or if the wounds the victim received were self inflicted? Anyone?

I don't know this area but if it's true what others have posted that this was a bad part of town then I think the CHL holder failed by placing himself in a situation that he didn't need to.

While I agree there are areas more prone to crime than others, I can tell you one never knows when they will be in a situation that was completely unexpected. I wouldn't say the victim failed at all. I think the fact that the victim lived and the bad guy died is a win for all of us. Especially a win for the guy who had war declared on him and conquered his aggressor.tobasco wrote:I don't know this area but if it's true what others have posted that this was a bad part of town then I think the CHL holder failed by placing himself in a situation that he didn't need to.
Personally, I won't be holding up behind closed doors out of fear from a potential combatant. Meeting up in a public area to buy or sell a phone is not what I would consider placing myself in a risky situation. Meeting up with the local crack dealer is a different matter.
Heck... I have met many a stranger in parking lots to buy or sell a handgun or rifle. If one of these fine folks would have turned out to be a criminal, I don't think it makes me stupid.

Re: Robber shot by man with CHL
Unfortunatly some of us have to travel to the "bad part of town" for business from time to time. Thats one of the reasons I got my CHL. However, it has really been my personel experience that more stuff happens to the "good guys" in good parts of town than in the bad parts. Maybe its because most of us don't travel to those parts but as I have found out, the crooks tend to go to the "good parts of town" to do their dirty little deeds.tobasco wrote:I don't know this area but if it's true what others have posted that this was a bad part of town then I think the CHL holder failed by placing himself in a situation that he didn't need to.
