One-Handed -Tap and Rack

I was jusr reviewing the "NEVER AGAIN " section and this topic
came up.
What is this ?

Tap, rack, bang is the emergency procedure for clearing a jam in a semi-auto pistol.

If something happens to you while you are carrying a pistol, you may need to clear a malfunction with just one hand. There are multiple reasons, including being injured in the one hand.

So, practice tapping the butt against something to make sure the magazine is fully seated, then practice racking the slide with one hand. The way that works best for me is to push the sights against the edge of the heel on my boots, but others have other methods. Some push the weapon into the back of the knee to hold the slide while they push across with the good hand (I cannot seem to get this to work reliably but I have seen officers who could). Another one we used to do in the Army is to push the pistol back into the holster sideways so it would not go all the way down. This worked even on Army Flap holsters

One of the best examples of why you need to do this was the FBI agent in Miami in 1986. After being hit in one hand and losing his sidearm, he managed to figure out, in the middle of the gunfight, how to rack and fire the 12 gauge pump one handed. Looks sort of like his motto was to never say die and never give up.

I shot IDPA with a one armed man for a while, watching him load, reload, clear and holster was impressive.

That is impressive. I had to try it to appreciate how difficult it actually is!

the second one was impressive. I have a difficult time taking apart my 1911 with both hands.

I do have a video of him doing it, but I don't know how he would feel about me posting it somewhere.

I would also need to get a youtube account, which is something I haven't done yet.

Using the sight and pushing against your belt will work too. Also, anything that roughs up the top of the slide will help create friction. One thing that works good is skateboard tape. With it on the top of a Glock slide, you can rack it on your pants.

With practice it can be done very easily...

I think the first one shows a good practice routine for all of us to try. I usually do not go that far in practice, but I have done it a few times.

In the second one, i think he cheats. There is no barrel bushing shown being removed, so the spring is not under pressure. But I still doubt I could do it one handed. I might come close to his time using both hands, if I had to with a Drill Sgt standing behind me.
