So, we gave them weapons, turns out they're Al-Qaeda..

Post by APynckel »

The Syrian rebels have just announced that they're pledging loyalty to Al-Qaeda.

The "administration" has pledged military support of the rebels and will render them aid.

I'm all for providing them with military support. How would a couple dozen sidewinders, a half dozen MOABs, and several hundred thousand rounds do 5.56 NATO sound? Of course, they may not like our delivery methods..... :fire

How about this? How about we just let them torture and kill each other all they want? They seem to be very good at it and be getting a real kick out of it. We aren't going to win any friends or influence people to like us any more by sending them more armaments or ordnance. Its a dictator versus terrorists. If we end up drawn into that conflict, our current regime wouldn't let us "win" anyway. No matter who wins, we lose. I feel bad for the little kids, but its the adults there that drive the outcome. Sorry if I seem cold-hearted or cynical, just calling it like I see it.

I don't think we benefit by choosing sides. It ticks off Russia. Puts us in a predicament where we are supporting those who are our enemies. The best plan we could possibly have it just stay out of it. When there is a stick in front of you and both ends are crappy.....leave the stick on the ground. Don't pick it up at all. We can't fix the world. If those people want peace and a stable more just gov't they are going to have to make it happen. I do not wish to give $$ and weapons to those who would kill my children in a heartbeat if they got the chance.

I think our president wants to change the topic. He thinks he can change the subject from #1 the NSA spying on us all #2 the IRS targeting conservatives (and possible election tampering in that) #3 the Bengazi debacle and the fact that it looks like while our ambassador was being tortured and murdered the commander in chief made sure he got a full nights sleep for the fundraiser the next day #4 the AP and FOX wiretapping, and the many many other treasonous acts his administration has committed against our great nation. He is taking a leaf out of Hollywoods wag the dog and it is not ok.

It's hard to find someone who likes Obama less than me but dishonesty is dishonesty no matter what you are talking about.

Syria used chemical weapons so the admin has stated because of that they will start aiding rebels in Syria. That just happened so they haven't given anyone anything yet and while I don't give Obama much credit for sense there is a pretty good chance they don't plan on handing out weapons to random people but rather groups they want to influence and that they hope will be important after a regime change. BO may be a nut but arming AQ?

From the second article:
The President has said that the use of chemical weapons would change his calculus, and it has," he continued.
Calculus? He doesn't even know simple arithmetic.

No but there is stupid and then there is this. No matter what we think of them we shouldn't ascribe as fact thing that haven't happened yet. Not to mention Obama is at the least a little bit of a politician. Politics and public opinion just wouldn't allow them to do what is claimed.

Not all who are fighting against the Syrian Regime are extremists or terrorists. Defecting soldiers are mostly liberal and non-practicing Muslims. Many are just Syrian patriots. There are huge number of "Islamic Brotherhood" supporters and few Al-Qaeda type fighters. The later should be deported once war dust settles. Most likely, war would continue after fall of the Syrian regime just to accomplish that goal.

Didn't this motley crew just execute a teen for saying something mean about Mohammed. I don't want to send a red cent or pepper spray to people who are willing to shoot a teenager in the head for saying something stupid. If they cannot handle a teen being a teen without executing people then I don't want to give them so much as a club to fight anyone with. They are not mentally stable.
