Coworker get's SHOT AT while driving carelessly

One of the guys that works at my restaurant, he is a server, was driving home earlier this week, around midnight. Driving kind of lazily (not sleeping though) and be started slowly easing into the the lane to his right.

He realized this and jerked back.

The car that was in his blind spot took offense and started SHOOTING AT MY FRIEND'S TRUCK!

He has bullet holes in the wheels and in the sheet metal.


Fast forward to today, when he tells this story at work. I say "yet another reason why I carry a gun" (everyone listening already knew I carry when I can). One of my co-managers said, "I wouldn't, I know some guys that would come get you, your friends, and your family, while they slept if you were to shoot back.

I'm not so sure.

Thoughts?

I've actually read of some cases where people who have defended themselves have been forced to move to avoid reprisals from friends or family of the perp. Didn't this happen after the recent self defense shooting in Ohio, where the perp was around 16?

Face it. If a criminal attempts to attack or rob you, there are no great outcomes. All we can do is try to get the best outcome we can.

I dissagree...

You matter a heck of a lot more than a criminal that attacks you...If you reasonably determine that force (deadly or not) is necessary to stop that attack...

Then I'd much rather hear someone from Smithville successfully defending themselves...That is the best outcome...

I have also thought about this. Today anyone with a cheap PC and $25 can find where you live by your license plate number. If you have to defend yourself against a BG, even just to the point of showing a weapon to avert a confrontation, a determined BG with a bruised ego can come after you.

What do you do in a case like that? I could probably relocate. But I do live in a nice quiet neighborhood, with large lots, and little traffic. A stranger stands out, and the local Deputy seems to take a personal interest in our neighborhood. But my surname is somewhat unique, and my parents are local and in the phonebook.

I dont live in fear of what can happen. I not going to start now. Having said that. My Awarness would be sligtly elevated but I would not stop living for fear of what might happen. You do that and the criminal has already won even if he does nothing more. My .02 for what its worth.

I should also add, she didn't change my mind...it was just interesting to see the sheeple reaction creeping out in an oviously clean shoot.

Since, I know this guy well, and it EASILY good have been me, it made me glad that I carry to and from work, and that my USPc is loaded with Gold Dots, which from what I know do well with glass and car-type materials.

I still think this whole thing is stupid though, who shots at another moving car for it swerving?

+1. $25.00 can get you basic contact information, $50.00 can get you all of that plus credit information, $75.00+ gets you all off the above plus names of relative, previous addresses and employers, etc. Small change to a drug dealer that feels slighted or offended.

Now, what are the chances it would happen? IMO, slim to slight. But catch someone on the wrong day and it can happen.

OK, I am not saying that it couldn't happen, but...

Shooting someone on your front porch and having his family and friends harass you is quite different. I doubt that some hothead that is probably carrying a gun illegally is going to be writing down your license plate number while exchanging gunfire. Shooting back in a moving vehilce is most likely not the option to exercise. Engaging in evasive tactics and getting the heck out of there is probably the best move.

I certainly won't be considering who might come after me later while I'm being used as moving target practice. Just my opinion.

We are being harassed on a spotty basis by a small group of morons in our community. This consists of making up lies and gossip.

It also has consisted of shooting one of our bulls and lately, threatening my wife with rape via a drunken phone call one night.

I am certain who is doing it but I lack the hard proof I need to deal with it within the framework of the Law.

The method we have chosen is to wait for them to make one more stupid mistake that we can trace back to them then haul the whole bunch in for making terroristic threats. After the criminal case is done, the Civil proceedings will begin.

It really does not matter to me what that last stupid thing will be.
